It's interesting the mention of Insta. We were talking about this the other day - what looks good on a tiny square does not necessarily translate to real life. Things need to have impact on a small square to draw the eye, but in real life you need to live in a space and feel comfortable. I think we have all been sucked in at times! Anyway, Forza's previous mention about Skimming Stone is a good one. Greys tend to be blue based, green based or violet based. Blue based can look urban and tend towards cool, green based or violet based may be the way to go. Little Greene Slaked Lime is good, Skimming Stone woodwork, Elephants Breath walls Farrow and Ball etc.

Did you get a survey done before you brought the house? That should tell you if you have solid or cavity walls. Foam is blown into the cavity for insulation. Has been around for many years, so you shouldn't have any problems with it. You can usually tell if you already have cavity wall insulation by spots of mortar on the outside walls a slightly different colour to your brick mortar, where the foam has been inserted. Could be worth checking with your neighbours to determine if you have solid or cavity walls. Thanks for you suggestions! We have looked into it and where the stairs would finish, the door to the kitchen opens into the hall so would cover the bottom of the stairs. Opening into the kitchen isnt an option.
