The first option seems to work better when you add furniture in? Given they'll be starting secondary school soon'ish I don't know whether a wardrobe and chest of drawers is a better option for their uniform? You can also use the bottom of the wardrobe for shoes, sports equipment etc and I'd pick a colour that blends into the wall. I personally wouldn't do 2 feature walls however use colour blocking to zone each of their spaces. Try and find a blue and yellow that work together and add a couple more complementary shades. I've added a couple of pics but there are loads online. You could do a geometric shape or border etc. Having their duvet in their colours may be an idea too. I would probably go for beanbags for seating which can go at the side of the bed when not in use. Is their room under the bed for baskets for toys? Maybe also shelves over the bedside table?

I popped into the new Paint Store on the way home - it’s huge and has all the high end ranges in stock including wooden samples of all their colours. It was dark when I left (Could have spent another hour in there) but managed to limit myself to 4 colours - Pale powder, Skylight, Teresa’s Green and LG Salix.! I also asked for the JohnStones paint card - I was in the wrong store! Their shop was next door and Crown colour centre was next to that. Totally missed those two - I was in Nicholls and Clarke paint centre! Now it’s too dark to see how the samples look. Thsnks for all your help today.

I think you need to make a carpet choice first. In my opinion the carpets should be a continuation of the rest of the house…… I like all bedrooms to have the same carpet and for the landing to be a link to all the bedrooms. You can of course put the same bedroom carpet on the landing but I prefer soft and inexpensive for bedrooms and tougher and with a forgiving pattern for high traffic stairs and hallways. So my bedroom carpets are silver/grey with a woven herringbone style for the stairs and landing. Once you have a carpet choice it will be easier to think about wall colours.

Alexandra, as usual I have lots of questions before I can offer some ideas. Firstly, is the second door in the room a cupboard, is that a rail full of clothes in front of the wardrobe doors and do you sit on the floor to do your make up and hair? I would think a dressing table would make life much easier if this was the case and if you got one with drawers, even better. Perhaps you can have a wardrobe clear-out then you’d be able to fit in those extra clothes and free up floor space. Is that a washing basket under the cream blanket? Could it go somewhere else? And I’d remove everything from the window sill except the plant.
