Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on how to best arrange furniture in my bedroom. I’ve attached a layout to give you a better idea of the space.

A few important details:

• ⁠The bottom left room in the layout is an en-suite bathroom.

• ⁠There are two large windows on the right wall, with a radiator between them.

I’m trying to figure out the best placement for a double bed, built in wardrobes and any additional furniture (like bedside tables etc. to make the room feel cozy, functional, and not too cramped.

I’d really appreciate any suggestions or ideas on the best layout. Thanks in advance for your help! 😊

To make the most of your bedroom layout, consider placing the double bed along the left wall, opposite the windows. This keeps the bed out of the way of the radiator and ensures you can enjoy the natural light from the windows without blocking it. Adding bedside tables on the side of the bed will create balance and provide practical storage For wardrobes, the best spot would be along the top wall near the en-suite bathroom. This keeps the wardrobes accessible without interrupting the flow of the room. If there’s enough space, you could place a small chest of drawers. Alternatively, depending on your needs, a slim console table near the windows could double as a workspace or vanity.

Hello,

Well, clearly there's no space for a bed and bedside tables on the wall with the door.

My sugestion is for the bed to be placed against top wall with the wardrobes opposite it, and possibly on the left from the door.

if it was possible to move the bathroom door you could extend the wardrobes to cober the whole wall.

A storage ottoman/bench completes the layout providing somewhere to sit and store cushions and blankets when not in use.

Thank you, that’s a really good idea. I’ve just bought some string lights but didn’t know what to do with them so they’re on the head board at the moment. I considered a wall tapestry or clock (pictures below) but have ordered a macrame wall hanging for the wall opposite the bed, which I hope will add some interest.

Don’t have dimensions but the en suite looks larger than it needs to be. I would move the wall between bedroom and en suite back a few feet then you could have wardrobe storage space along the bedroom side of the new stud wall. As building a new stud wall you could have a pocket door and I would put the bed and bedside tables as in the diagram above facing the window. In the ensuite I would make the shower as wide as possible stretching between the new stud wall and the exterior window wall and put the toilet and basin side-by-side along the window wall

Would this plan work?: Phase 1. Knock the wall (including the storage cupboard) between the current bedroom and hallway and the convert that space into a living room, with patio doors to your garden? As part of this I'd open up as much as possible, the connection between the new living room and existing kitchen - which remains your kitchen. Again, depending on your budget you could maximise the connection between the kitchen and garden. The door into this space would now be at the top of the current hallway ie at the opposite end to the kitchen. Ensure you spend money on insulating this new space, before redecorating this space. It's likely that your budget would be gone doing all these works. Phase 2. Convert the bathroom to a second bedroom. Use the front room as your new bedroom. Move the bathroom into a newly created, linear space between the new bedroom (at the front) and new living room. Phase 3. Build customised storage and laundry spaces into the height limited basement. Design your kitchen in phase 1, in such a way that the kitchen space vacated when the washing machine moves to the basement, that the kitchen unit can be reused for something else.

Consider adding a stud wall to extend the en suits wall, allows bed placement in front of windows, walk in wardrobe and plenty of wall space for your other requirements
