Measure the whole size from chair leg to chair leg across and then add at least 1m to that. This one would work too and comes in larger sizes.

Grey kitchen, grey dining chairs then grey carpet will it look good?

How about a natural jute rug, or something similar? It will pick up the tan of some of the chairs and be a nice change from grey overload! You can buy them at Next, Dunelm, Wayfair and many other retailers.

Any spills on a natural rug like jute and the stain will never come off! I have had seagrass, coir, sisal and jute and even using the "special cleaner" from the suppliers left a light patch when applied as suggested. I would look for a washable or at least spot cleanable or maybe even an outdoor rug. Cotton would also work well. The pink suggestion of Sarah's is lovely. Your floor also looks very slippery so unless you choose a heavier weight rug you will need some sort of underlay or tape to hold it in place. Think of the action of pulling the chairs in and out. A heavier rug would be less likely to move.

Can I ask if you’re planning to add any further window dressing? In one photo it looks like you already have white Venetian blinds but I think by adding full length curtains at both windows it would soften the space and add warmth. You may then feel that having a rug under the table isn’t necessary. Have you still to choose a lampshade or light fitting? If I may say so, your clock and artwork seems a bit randomly placed.

Isla already mentioned the dimensions of the rug needed. i’d really think about whether it would be a trip hazard coming through the entrance door.

Thank you for your response. What I’m looking for is a cozy dining area. To clarify, I already have blinds on both windows, but I think the brightness might be making them less noticeable. As for the clock and artwork, I’m open to changing or removing them and trying something new. In the corner that appears blurred, I have my temple, which I don’t plan on moving. I’m happy to add or remove anything else to create the desired look.
