The floor is quite a warm honey colour. That light is casting some strange shadows down the wall. How much natural light does the hallway receive? I would be tempted to just paint it bright white with something like F&B's All White.

I would look at something like Cromarty. It’s a light green that goes well with oak. It’s a Farrow & Ball colour. I had it made by Johnstones which was accurate and much cheaper.

The kitchen units are a charcoal colour, I’m not convinced about the match with the floor, what do you think? I’m not good at interior design!

The natural wood finish/look on the floor is like a pair of jeans - it will go with anything. Charcoal and white kitchen similar. I would avoid anything grey as it will look out of date immediately. The strange lighting situation is due to that light fitting - can change that for something else quite easily. In terms of colour, since there is no natural light I would not paint it white as it'll just look dirty and unfinished. You could go for a pale neutral or any colour really, but it's the tone of the colour you need to be careful with - you want something a bit murky/muted rather than bright and crisp. The F&B colours tend to be more like that, so maybe start there.

I have a very similar hallway, with an identical floor, which can often be dark unless there is direct sunlight. I have painted it in F&B Tallow which goes really nicely with oak and like they claim does have an illuminating effect. It is a really rich cream with yellow tones. May or may not compliment your kitchen but might be a place to start. Our woodwork is in Wimborne White.

Apologies Rebecca, I can see that your kitchen units are grey and I think they are absolutely fine with the floor. I was actually asking about the colour of the tall cupboard on the right as you enter the kitchen and if you like how it sits with the flooring?
