Thank you for that - the room is quite dark as it has a conservatory on the end - at the moment very stark as you can see in these pics - the red suite is staying, there will be a new light fitting and brass/gold sockets. I have bought a huge gold mirror for the chimney breast and the runner was going directly above the fire - it's normal wallpaper roll width.

I'll second what others said before me- concrete doesn't NEED to be industrial at all. It is used often to achieve this effect, but it's really a pretty natural material, like stone! So if you think of your concrete as you would think of stone, a whole new realm of possibilities opens up -- and adding wood and other natural materials and plants will work very well to get you to the effect you want.

Agreed you are probably battle weary and over thinking it. Indeed you liked previous floor which you had no input in. Laminate will give you same problem in trying to find suitable colour. I find if I cannot make a decision something is wrong with my choices and I was like you with many samples but didn’t like anything. Perhaps you need to give it a break for a while, or if it’s something you must decide soon, be open to something completely different colour wise. I imagine you are looking at similar colours that you think will work but none are, so maybe this needs to be re thought through and perhaps introduce new colour options. That’s what I did and eventually family chose as we were all getting fed up! Whilst it’s not at all what I would have said I wanted at the outset, I don’t mind it at all now and colour works well. Perhaps post images of the furniture you are trying to compliment and ask for suggestions? You can also look at different manufacturers. Hi, the tiled column idea worked for us but consider IF you take that route, remove the vanity unit first allowing for the column from floor to ceiling then centrally re fit the vanity unit, this may balance the room (shower area with the vanity unit wall) along with a light colour painted finish on the remaining areas. As for the mirror keep the same width as the tile - the vanity unit manufacturer may also provide the same material / colour mirror matching the cabinet again balancing the room . You have used a trim at the edge of the shower tile use this same trim either side of the column to finish allowing to draw your eye away from depth on the tile . Don’t be too disheartened with the work and materials used, what you have achieved its all looking good - btw
