Comments (79)Been playing with the app a little, can't quite decide what's best at the moment, chatting with the misses, I don't think we will be doing any major mods to structure for some time, so need to try and make the most of the space we have for the mean time...See MoreStaircase 911 (Save the Children)
Comments (11)Well, I think, in a fall, the slick painted concrete steps leading to a brick/concrete wall and, if you survive the turn in staircase, stone flooring at the bottom must also be on the list of potential hazards :) To be honest, I have to go back and check the slipperiness of the stairs. No idea how I could get a runner around the bend and anchored into concrete but something may be required. For whomever asked, the parquet is the entire upstairs flooring. The stone is all downstairs (and not too attractive so rug shopping is high on my list). I have to give it to the Swiss. There is nary a wobble in the current railing - it's just not up to any sort of child protection code. A 2 inch thick catalog of railing options landed on the doorstep yesterday - must peruse and ponder for a bit! Thankfully we have no children or pets to lose over the side so I have some time to get it right! So long as chicken wire NEVER enters the conversation!!!!! hahahahhaha...See MoreHelp needed with my daughter's bedroom
Comments (6)Hi Why cant you close that hole up where the ladder goes and install new stairs (standard ) on the wall to your right or left of the doorway? Taking up the whole wall? You would lose 1m max of the width of the room and could possible get the bed under the stairs along the window wall. Forgive me if im wrong and theres not enough space? If it needs to be narrow then make a ladder similar to what you have now just less shallow instead of the stairs. I would love to have a look and advise. Comments (7)Hi Jay Jay, Congratulations on the first house. I would keep it simple on the ground floor and join the kitchen and dining room. If you want a 3rd bedroom, the only way i can see of going about it would to create a very narrow shower room on the landing and steal some of bedroom 2. I don’t really think this is much of an improvement as it creates a barely usable bedroom and a very tight bathroom (but not much more so than the current layout). So only go with this layout if you need an extra separate space and don't mind having a TINY bathroom! If you were serious about doing a loft conversion in the future, (and if the structure of the loft is suitable for it) then you could include a cupboard off the landing which could be used in future to add space saving stairs up to the loft. Please let me know what you think? And I wish you all the best with your renovation project!! Phill...See More- last year
