@Sanah - rubbish at internet stuff but you can see the entire range of Nourison's Mondrian Runners at theRUGSELLER.co.uk where mine are. About 8 different patterns including stripes. Mine is code MON66 and £89, but I can't seem to find it online. Interestingly the range is not on Nourison's own main website. Maybe discontinued. There are larger hall runners, rugs and circular rugs too. Good luck

I’m reluctant to paint the bannisters anything but white and varnish as that’s what they’ve always been and I like the smoothness of hundreds of hands touching them (it’s my grandmothers house and the house my mother was born in...) but am keen to paint the stairs. The bottom stairs currently have FB light blue on them which is nice but I was hoping to go a little darker without darkening too much- maybe Oval Room blue? And my other question is about skirting boards- I’d be inclined to do them white but would that look strange on the stairs if I have painted stairs, white skirtings and then painted walls up to dado height? Thanks again for help... painting really is the hardest bit...!

I hope it goes well. If you use a paper with an iridescent finish it will add some light and movement to the space. A vinyl finish will make it more hardwearing and easier to keep clean.

Controversial but I actually like the green. I might be tempted to go for a slightly lighter sage shade but it’s fresh. I agree with Colourhappy that a rich gold would look amazing. I have to say that the greige colour palette which is typified by Elephant’s Breath is going to date very quickly and won’t be very welcoming. I think there is a strong sense of people moving away from greys and navy’s and opting for colours that bring joy and warmth. Greens, golds, terracotta and pinks. It doesn’t need to jar and can actually be very sophisticated. Have you looked at Setting Plaster by F&B. It’s a very subtle pink that works as a great backdrop for art and will look lovely with the mahogany tone of the staircase.
