Hi all - room is coming together but I am still unsure about this wall. The ceiling is so high. A huge statement piece of art is not really my thing. I am much more into 'bits n bobs'. There is a radiator between the lamp and the bureau. I was wondering about either / both: painting a band of contrasting paint horizontally a shelving unit mounted on the wall where I can place plants, pictures etc. Can anyone help me visualise? :-) :-) I will post below the styles I like.

You could paint the area under the stairs a darker colour and use where you have the cabinet as a desk space or a reading area with a comfy chair and book shelves. If you don’t want to change the wall colour, I would just get a more statement plant in a bigger pot and keep it as a shoe storage area with small bench/chair so you can put your shoes on comfortably.

I think you need to make a carpet choice first. In my opinion the carpets should be a continuation of the rest of the house…… I like all bedrooms to have the same carpet and for the landing to be a link to all the bedrooms. You can of course put the same bedroom carpet on the landing but I prefer soft and inexpensive for bedrooms and tougher and with a forgiving pattern for high traffic stairs and hallways. So my bedroom carpets are silver/grey with a woven herringbone style for the stairs and landing. Once you have a carpet choice it will be easier to think about wall colours.
