Obviously I couldn't comment on the plumbers first hand knowledge of your situation and plumbing issues he refers to. But you have a sink in the blue room so surely that will get blocked also if he is concerned about blockages.

Thank you all for your suggestions. It's great to have some replies and I appreciate your time. I know it would make sense to have the shower with the toilet but my other half is a landscape garden and comes in from work covered in cement etc. The idea is that he has a seat by the door to put his dirty boots under, throw his clothes in a laundry basket and step into the shower. That way all mess is contained so when visitors come they don't have to see it but can use the WC. Two washing machines- one for filthy work clothes and one for my nice work clothes. We both work late hours and leave a lot of washing to be weekend. Also if one breaks down due to dirt, cement, occasional nails, we have a spare. I thought about stacking them but thought it might look imposing in such a small space and singly would give me more worktop space. Can I squeeze it all in?

Depends on the size of the pipes required for the boiler. Some pipes larger than 15mm and most require fixer clips that are wider than 15mm too - so this probably why the kitchen designers are discouraging you. However - most kitchens can be rejigged to accommodate something like this if it’s known about in advance and taken into account. They just need to make one of the other cabinets 100mm smaller and give you a 100mm service gap to the side of your appliance. Re the deep pantry doors v the stepped back dresser - this depends on the carcass and doors size available... the main obstacle for the full cupboard look is that the laundry appliance is 600mm wide - it doesn’t fit inside a carcase. So the top cabinet needs to sit on top of the appliance - which isn’t ldeal - so I’d say stick with worktop and a dresser cabinet instead. You can often get these either wall unit depth or some companies do them full depth - they still need worktop over them to keep the top inline with any other tall cabinet within the room.

I completely agree that the washer and dryer should be separate otherwise it's going to take you forever to have your clothes ready to wear. I had a Miele washing machine and dryer, but I made the decision to switch over to the Akai washer and dryer. I decided to swith because I'm always looking to try brands that are not over-hyped. I have to say that I'm really impressed with the Akai washer and dryer. Not only were they cheaper, but in my opinion, they perform the same. At the end of the day, were spending crazy amount of money on these devices (some a lot more than others) and they all do the same job. When I ordered my Akai washer and dryer, the washer did come without the filter that collects residue that's easy to access (on many washing machines it can be accessed in the front bottom corner). I contacted the company where I purchased it from and they told me that the factory where they came from made this error with multiple washing machines. They told me that I could get a refund or I could try and find the missing filter online because they didn't have it in stock. Luckily, I was able to find the filter online and the company I purchased the washing machine from reinbursed me for the purchase. All in all, my Akai washer and dryer work really well so I do recommend you investing in it.
