boilers and pumps!
Comments (18)I think you may be conflating 2 issues. The first is whether your water pressure is good enough to serve two showers at the same time. That depends on your mains water pressure and the flow rate of your showers. This would still be an issue if you had the second shower as an ordinary electric one, If pressure is sufficient, The second issue is whether your boiler can heat the water quickly enough. Our pressure was low so when renovating we ended up upgrading the water pipe in to house to 22mm, and having a pressurised feeder tank installed as well as a hot water tank because our pressure could otherwise not replenish the hot water tank as fast as we could empty it. Would a solution be to have an electric power shower that is cold feed only?...See Moreintegrated appliance cupboard help!
Comments (10)I don't think it's advisable to put a fridge under an oven or next to it is it? I'm sure i've read that somewhere. Might have been Karen at OnePlan, she's a whizz with kitchens, well everything really! Have you got a plan with dimensions of the whole kitchen...................might be easier. I think you may need to start with taking out that radiator and putting in a different heat source like plinth heaters. At least that will make the space more useable. However, I notice that there is also a descaler of some sort attached to the pipework at the back, so I'm not sure how deep you'll be able to go in to that recess. It also doesn't look wide enough for an appliance. Rough guess from the pic i'd say it's less than 50cm even with the rad gone....See Moreintegrated washing machine
Comments (11)Beano, it could be the fact that you had a good brand, I just had an indesit, at the time I asked a friend who had a Bosh integrated washing machine under the island and hers hardly vibrated at all! In my new kitchen which was installed in Nov , I have a free standing Bosch washing machine within a tall unit as part of a whole bank of wall units, I thought the washing machine was going to sit on the floor but in fact it actually sits inside of the bottom of the cupboard, when it spins there is some vibration if I put my hand on the cupboard but that's because it is sitting in the cupboard rather than hard floor. But it is nowhere near as bad as the previous kitchen - perhaps the machine wasn't level. Another thing I realised was that I like to keep the washing machine door open after washing to let it air a bit otherwise it starts to smell a bit damp having the door closed all the time, with an integrated washing machine it means leaving the door slightly open and even with my new kitchen now, I leave the cupboard door open over night. If I ever had the money to re-do my kitchen again I would definitely have a very small utility or if it was to remain in a cupboard, I would get the doors that would just slide and hide at the sides ( the doors on the Neff slide and hide ovens ) :-)...See MoreWill combi boiler be OK?
Comments (6)We also have two bathrooms and WC with combi. We cope fine but one shower is electric and never, so far, found ourselves wanting to run two showers or bath and shower at same time. It would struggle too much. Also remember that combis are either heating water or radiators, so take a shower and heating cuts off. And as you don't have a pressurised water store with a combi you are dependent on the incoming water mains flow rate being enough to serve multiple outlets (and a boiler model that can keep up). they also need more volume of gas, so not uncommon to have to upsize incoming gas pipe (ours was ok for 30kw model, any higher and I think it would have been a problem). There are large storage combis, such as Worcester highflow, which claim to cope, but that's when gas pipe size is likely to be a problem. They are great spacesavers, and can't run out of hot stored water, but need to be aware of their limitations....See MoreEllie
