Comments (63)Hi all-I'm back:). Happy New Year! After a much needed holiday and some down-time, I am back on track! I decided to postpone the redecoration of my office till week after next so that I could take my time in choosing paint colours. I ordered 10 tester colours from Dulux and have been playing with them at work this morning. It's quite incredible how colours on your computer screen look nothing like they do when rolled on white paper or your wall! I'm so pleased I got these tester samples. My plan was to paint my 3 main walls (the only walls that will be painted) a light lilac with the false wall (below my window) a darker grey. But having seen the colours on the wall I could probably get away with a light grey for my 3 main walls and a darker lilac for the false wall-ledge. I want the false wall to stand out and be approx. 2 shades darker than the main walls. Having spoke to Dulux on the phone the woman advised against certain colours as they would make the room feel "closed in". Because it's a small space I do need to be careful not to use too dark a colour for the main walls. I've decided I'm keeping my purple blind so am basing my paint colour choice around the blind, and the grey chairs that I will be ordering from IKEA...attached/uploaded somewhere earlier in this thread:). I've already eliminated a couple of the tester colours simply because I find them too "baby pink"-as if for a newborn baby girl's room (i.e., Lavender Blossom=bottom colour on left) & Soft Montelimar 4=bottom colour on right). I don't want anything too girlie-most of my clients are men:). I've painted 5 colours on the left and 5 colours on the right-hopefully you can make out top to bottom, etc. I like Violet White (the top colour on the left) as a possibility for the 3 main walls, or Goose Down (top left), with Lavender Quartz (4th down on left), Grey Steel 2 (4th down on right) or Chic Shadow (2nd from top on left) as possible colours for my accent false wall (below the window). I love Lavender Quartz but fear it may be too dark for the 3 main walls. So this is where I'm at at the mo! Comments (13)Hello Looby_Liz I agreed with rinked keep the storage. My first flat was a studio and it was always storage the problem. I do not know how the storage is used but you can have a pull out desk from it. A storage wall keeping the bedroom private to the rest of the flat. Storage shelves wardrobe on the bedroom side could be made or hacked but so that the hangers are flat to the wall, so minimising space. Like you see in shops, but better. On the opposite side in your living area you can have some clever storage for your desk., dinning area. Have a look at Quantum Tech HD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkEMzxxnKUQ some amazing ideas. Approx 3mins 40sec in, is a great idea for a desk/dressing table. But the whole video will give you some ideas. I do not know where they are based? But there must be other companies too? And if you are a DIY-ist or know someone who is, some look like modern ikea style and they may have the desk, table, bed fixings to create similar. Have a look at modern Japanese interiors to get some clever ideas too. In feng shui you would not have your bedroom door opposite the bathroom. So needs a door to keep private if not there already. Keeping things off the floor helps stops the room from feeling enclosed. But clever storage that conceals for eg. an ottoman to under bed storage beds, (the designs have much improved since my day). Steps can be storage. And your door to the bedroom could be disguised too as a continuation of your shelving. Lighting and flooring can zone your areas and create different moods. As it is a small space that has to do everything in your life. Possibly "live" with it for awhile with the things to see how it feels, where the light changes during the day and night. The colour changes. See where you walk how the kitchen works and then with your research you will know where to place or rearrange your personal things. I am looking for an understated MCM chair. They will not receive heavy use, book club and occaisional guests, parties. New furniture coming this week that has a lot going on. Eames chair and Muse sofa. I feel these chairs need to be a bit more subdued.

If the room is one couch, one statement chair? and a pair of other? You'd arrive at cliche to an extent, You can have plenty of the MCM flavor without a nod to it in every stick of seating
As to upholstery color? what is the rug, if any?? Etc.
Nothing lives alone.
Monitors lie, no clue what in person looks to

Jan, I am probably going to do a custom rug similar to this. Sounds like you think I should go with a more basic all upholstered chair since the sofa and Eames will be the stars. One Eames chair.
Fireplace is a granite slab, see below. Grays in stone are very cool and almost go purple.
