New kitchen diner layout feedback please
Comments (8)I'm sure Karen will give you lots of options :) option 1 utility position doesn't work for me personally. I wouldn't want to be trecking through those doors etc. I don't know if an option would be to make the study a combined laundry/cloak and then extend the playroom to include a desk. If you work from home a lot though that could be an issue? Option 2, the kitchen doesn't feel big enough for the house and not sure how many tall units you're wanting? The loss of door in the play room is also tricky for hanging out washing. do you mean like an oriel window for the window seat? i don't know if i would change the window and door around? Just thinking of taking rubbish out, bbq's, al fresco dining etc so the door may be better from the kitchen?...See Morein an open plan living area can I use a grey couch with a cream one or
Comments (3)I would say yes but i would look to having the sofas of a similar style as two completely different sofas in different colours i think would look odd. Look to linking them together with a large rug that has those two colours in and also a third or fourth/fifth too - hope that helps...See MoreOne thing you couldn’t do without - living room plan
Comments (8)I find that the biggest struggle people have when designing an open plan space is where to put the TV. I get people come to me for my help to redesign their open plan space, because it doesn't work, and the reason is usually because the TV is in the wrong place. So I made a video to help people consider where they want the TV! You can watch it on my youtube channel here: https://youtu.be/lUZaehO7Xfk Another key thing to consider is your movement through the space, I haven't yet done a video about this, but basically: - get out your floor plan - put a dot in the centre of each door and at each point in the room that you will go to frequently - draw lines between those dots to show typical movement patterns - look at the spaces they cross and the spaces that are left empty - think about how your furniture fits around those lines - think about if you moved a door or a feature that you need to go to frequently, would this change the movement lines and help with your furniture positioning Hope this helps, Jane, i-architect.co.uk...See MoreAdvice re kitchen diner extension plans
Comments (30)We currently have folding doors between the living and dining room but I find them very awkward. My plan (when we can afford it) is to put pocket doors there so we can easily close off the living room or have open as desired. So you think it's okay for the only access to the kitchen to be through the middle room? I wondered if it would end up feeling like a corridor, rather than a room! I don't know that we have the space for that much storage but it does look great. Having a couple of chairs at the end of an island or peninsula is a good idea, if there's not room on the side. Any thoughts on the kitchen layout? I've drawn so many floor plans and end up using a different one each time. I may have to figure it out with a kitchen designer once we have booked a builder. I know the builders we are considering are booked in advance for some time, so we should have some time to decide on the kitchen specifics! Thanks again for the input. I really appreciate it!...See MoreJ C
