This would be another island option if we did just a prep area - with seating at end so it doesn’t disrupt flow through the kitchen. Also like the full cabinet on the end - perhaps put that at end of counter and corner open shelving next to the stove?

If no walk in pantry I like the idea of very organized shelving behind cabinet doors so that counters aren’t cluttered

Our island would have to be smaller than this but this is kind of the layout I would imagine if we cut off existing peninsula and put an island in instead.

You could put chairs under counter like this so they aren’t blocking walk way. Also colors and finishes - this is one of the prettiest kitchens I think I’ve seen. Really love it.
I love these doors. If we do built in pantry, something like this that can open it up when we are cooking so I'm not constantly opening & closing cabinet doors would be fantastic.
