Dishwasher. Do you always unload your entire dishwasher in one fell swoop? Or, when the dishes are clean, do you just pull them out as you need them? Many people swear by the convenience of having two dishwashers. You can be using the dishes out of one while loading the other one. Anything that keeps dishes from piling up in the sink is a good thing in my book. Also, if you entertain frequently or have a large family so that you regularly have more dishes than can fit into a single dishwasher, having two makes sense.
Short path from sink to dishwasher and storage. The sink and the dishwasher are normally side by side. But having your dish storage right by the dishwasher means you can unload and put away in one easy movement. At first, you might think that open shelves would make a kitchen harder to clean. But if you have them for the dishes you use daily and they are within easy reach of your dishwasher, then it is very simple to quickly empty the dishwasher. This also makes it easy to hand wash an item, dry it and put it right back on the shelf. Put only dishes up here that you use often enough that they won't have the chance to get dusty.
Customized pot and pan storage. I hate crouching down to put away pots, pans and their lids in a regular cupboard. It takes time to pull out the smaller ones so you can reach back in to put away larger pots — then you have to put all of the smaller ones back in. Having an organized rollout drawer makes it easy to put pots and lids away. Even the ones that go in the back.

Storage space was a priority, so the architects and contractors consolidated the tall cabinets against one wall, adding a good amount of shelving while allowing the rest of the kitchen to feel open. Custom pull-outs below the sink hold trash and recycling containers. Hafele LeMans pull-outs in corner cabinets take full advantage of every available cabinet.

Ocher in the Kitchen Ocher is said to stimulate appetite and is associated with food. Perfect for the kitchen.
Abramsansari came up with the design for the island herself. Its long, narrow shape provides plenty of prep and seating space. Cabinets on the back wall and a pantry on the front wall give her the storage she needs
Light paint colors, new furniture and light fixtures combine in her kitchen's new look. A vintage-style pendant and antique furniture with plenty of patina complete the 11-by-20-foot space.
2. Budget-friendly Farmhouse Style in Berkeley, California Katlanier turned a dark Spanish-style kitchen into this bright, open farmhouse-style kitchen on a tight budget. She designed the space herself, replacing just some of the cabinetry and keeping all of her original appliances except for the dishwasher.
Dings and scratches. Because it's soft, copper is easily marred by knives and heavy pots and is susceptible to everyday wear and tear. Although these often can be buffed out, some people enjoy the sense of age that results. If you're really concerned about dents, opt for a hammered or otherwise distressed finish, which won't show them nearly as prominently.
Create distinct work zones. "The character of a kitchen can be dramatically impacted by the use of glazes, as well as a careful selection of door styles and elements like crown molding," Hanl says. "I think this room shows my subtle but very distinct focus on proportion and rhythm when it comes to those elements." It also reflects her approach to creating distinct work zones; note the organization of the tall units at the end of the room and the start of the work counter on the right. "The island, which is connected to a raised informal eating counter, has a prep sink," she points out. "The hutch on the left is slightly narrow to help give the island a decent depth."
Highlight your curves. For an oceanfront home surrounded by fir trees in the northern rainforest of Canada, Hanl chose natural and chocolate-colored bamboo "for its straight, distinct yet quiet grain as a complement to the fir," she says. "To balance all this wood, I added chocolate-colored faux-leather paneling on the back of the island. It's made out of rubber, so it's easy to maintain. The blue and blood-red lacquered cabinets were inspired by the owners' favorite piece of art." Although layout is a striking architectural design, it posed some spatial challenges. "The small prep island is a very sculptural piece," Hanl says. "I put it in between the single wall I had available to place a huge assortment of appliances and the long swooping curve of the actual work island. The soft curves I brought in to balance this dynamic and make the space functional incorporate and bridge the architect's angled theme. At the same time the island is a multipurpose unit. It's contains a prep sink, appliance center and bamboo butcher block section that's an easy-to-maintain eating area for the couple's two little girls." Part of the kitchen also serves as an intricate, multifunctional room div...
. Add a pop of red. You don't have to be a fan of red to appreciate it in small doses. Just a hint of this peppery hue is enough to grab attention and make a room interesting.
