Wine rack under island? I would actually use it for bookshelves. We have dead space under island (between cabinets) so I could have book shelves under island similar to this wine rack.

How thick is marble top on island? 2" or even thicker? I would want to do thick marble top if we decided to swap out top on island. Also, we could paint island a fun color like blue or green vs black (or very dark brown that looks like black).

I like this floor as well. I know this is wider planks and maybe quarter sawn, so my floor won't look exactly like this. What do you think about water popping which makes the grain stand out? Was thinking of doing that. Although maybe this has too much grain. First picture with island looks like the grain does not stand out (may not be oak) and I like that look too.

What do you think about this island? I think I can cut the granite and replace legs with these braces. Or I could get white top (marble) and paint dark like this. In any event, island will need painting/refinishing as current finish (cherry?) will clash with new floor color. Speaking if which, I really like this floor color, although wood does not look like oak. But that is level of "darkness" and "brown level" I am looking for. Not too black and no reds in there.
