Alabaster is similar to white dove, maybe warmer. I used Simply White in my room and love it. It's neither yellow or blue. for the walls, maybe go w/warmer gray/taupe/beige?

Reply to: The more versatile white colours are those with lower Chroma. They are nearer to neutral, so there will be far more options from which to choose wall colours. See PPG Delicate White or SW Extra White for example.

Reply to: you need some decent lighting. those simple track lights just don't do much for walls. any chance of redoing the ceiling lighting? of course getting a nice dining table light will help, but that still leaves the other part of the room. don't forget, art, rugs, pillows, accessories, will all aid in bringing it together, however, I think you could have chosen a less prison-like color. With your warm floors and red rug, something a tad warmer would feel better. i like this one. BM Sea Salt warmer grays

Reply to: you're removing the wall paper, yes? any plans on redoing that massive florescent lighting? If you could cut that off and just do a few canned lights, it would look so much better. and give you better lighting. right now that florescent is camouflaging any color. it gives off a green/yellow hue to whatever you bring in there. Trying to pick a color off a swatch and have it look the same on your walls w/that lighting, will be impossible. You seriously need to remove that thing. even if you just do a flush mount fixture w/a few bulbs, it would be night and day i Paired the darker floor Cavatina w/some brushed nickel hardware. 2x10 Tile (Tilebar has this too. Reply to: They are all looking so purple on my screen lol. It makes sense, since there is definitely a pink/purple undertone to all these colors, including Cinder. What I think is happening is that the undertone is becoming more noticeable the lighter you go, so based on that I would go with Sterling Silver. If you went any lighter I would be worried that you will really notice that purple and hate it. On the other hand, you may love it but we are trying to be fairly neutral here, so we probably don't want to see a lot of the purple. I have to say that I find grays to be the hardest color of all to get right, which is why I recommended Cinder. I have seen it on my daughter's kitchen cabinets, as well as on the Ikea kitchen displays, so I know how it behaves. But, I think (crossing my fingers) you'll be safe with Sterling Silver. I tried it out as a wall color on several room mock-ups on the Ben Moore site and the purple doesn't seem to be taking over. I would still recommend painting one cabinet door with the color first, before you commit to the entire set.
