Entry
Separate the mudroom/boot room from the laundry and make it a simple entry. It could make for a very filthy entry that requires frequent cleaning but also streamlines the entry points into the home. Using strong hard flooring like natural sealed stone or recycled brick pavers will get character and be lovely and cool in summer.
Generally speaking, it is best to have entry doors be at least 900mm wide for ease of access as well as transporting large items in and out of the home. Photo of a large traditional mudroom in Philadelphia with brick floors, grey walls, a single front door and a white front door. Like style of joinery - but would like to meet ceiling with cornice.
