“We embarked on a major home renovation project this year. Both myself and my wife are very creatively minded but realise this doesn't necessarily translate to a functional, practical space on such a large project. So we asked Emma to help structure our thoughts, as well as share some of her many years' experience with space planning. She is also a mine of information when it comes to finding actual products and finishes to suit a particular aesthetic. It's sometimes hard to put a value on good design consultancy, as many of us fancy ourselves as amateur designers from watching the telly! But I can't emphasise enough how much knowledge and wisdom it takes to transform a space, from something you don't like, into a beautiful place you haven't seen yet. Emma was a very important part of that puzzle. I'd love to work with her again.”

“We worked with Holly on a Grade II house that was a challenging blend of Georgian and 21st century. Firstly, we liked her briefing process and her attempt to understand our tastes, for example she wanted to see images of our art, at that point in storage. Her initial concepts reflected her insights into us and her understanding of complex spaces in rooms that were rarely regular, and sometimes small, as was the case with two of the ensuite bathrooms. In particular, she transformed how we envisaged some of the spaces, inserting a TV into a room that had been a second sitting room and which saw only as a library and one of the small en suites. Secondly, we liked the way that she adapted initial concepts in the light of our reactions. Some designers become defensive, but Holly worked well with the grain of our ideas. Equally, she showed us things we didn't know we wanted until we saw them! Robert”

“We'd not seen ourselves as the type of people who could/would hire an architect, but after deciding on both a loft and garden extension along with kitchens and bathrooms for two flats AND a new garden studio we knew we needed desperate help. With a MA in Fine Art and long history in jewellery and graphic design I had a firm idea of the aesthetics for the flats but needed help with the logistics and endless tiny details. Sam has helped me consider aspects of the design I'd have never envisioned, helping to elevate the project to the next level and making the design for the flats not only beautiful but truly suited to the way we live. He takes the time to get to know his clients, making suggestions and questioning your preconceptions to really get to the heart of what you need in to make a home uniquely yours. With a focus on biophilia and sustainability he has also helped to source and purchase products for the project at a better rate, even going so far as to help me cut costs by recycling aluminium windows from a client who was discarding theirs due to their redesign to my studio. -above and beyond! I had no idea what to expect from working with an architect and was pleasantly surprised and have learned so much from Sam's patience. For those of you also new to the process - this is a real collaboration. There is no formulaic press of a button and delivery of generic plans like the the company we started using before Covid struck and they dropped off the face of the earth. What a blessing in disguise. Working with an architect who takes pride in their work isn't a quick process and requires you to put the work in to get the most of your resulting home. Approach it with this attitude and you'll be as overjoyed as I am with the results. Sam has been worth every penny and I don't know how we would have moved ahead with the project without him.”
