Scented candles are super relaxing - I agree with you Tom, I think something natural like pine or cut grass work well.

Given that it is officially spider season here in the UK, I will be in investing in some citronella (aka lemongrass oil) scented candles. I heard they don't like the scent of lemons. I'll try anything to keep them at bay.

In the similar way to my battle to find the perfect perfume, I really struggle with scented candles. I think I like too many! Generally, I am drawn to quite citrussy, fresh scents - like grapefruit or similar. But I also have a love for richer smells like fig and amber. Too many to choose from!

I agree Ruth. There are so many (too many) scented candle options out there. They make great gifts for people though when you're stuck for what to buy. I am pretty sure that's why there are so many different brands and scents out there now. So confusing. :-)

I like anything that makes my home smell like Christmas. My absolute favourite is the Lily Flame Warm Welcome candle. Its divine.

Vanilla all the way, all the time. It's sweet, but not overpowering, warm, and comforting. Perfect to come home to.

Many years ago I bought in famous "The One " in Dubai big white candle with anise stars all around, and I loved it. I never seen again that original lovely cundle again.

At the risk of being the only male to respond to this, my favourites are Christmas style scents, and baking smells, like cinnamon, ginger, mulled wine, spice etc.

I like all Yankee candles especially the Xmas specials like Cinnamon

M&S green fig is amazing all year round but Yankee Candle vanilla chai and cinnamon stick are Christmas favourites!

My favourite candle is Jo Malone's Pomegranate Noir. Also love Midnight Jasmine from Yankee Candles. Both lovely and linger long after.

I'm a big scented candle fan. My favourite ever was a tk maxx find called 'yma'. I looked the company up and it seemed to be from a small American company - can't get hold of anymore unfortunately. It is slightly tropical and fruity but not sickly, I cat really describe it!
How much is too much to spend on one though? I recently bought one I like the smell of in the white company. I think it was £22. At home, i could barely smell it and it didn't burn well. By the same token, I have spent a fair bit more than that and the results have been better but not amazing.
I'm not the biggest fan of Yankee candle, but maybe I need to smell some more.

St Eval Candle Company have a wonderful selection of scented candles, I recently bought 'Bergamot&Nettle'. It cost £8.50, burns for 45 hours and it burns well. Very nice indeed.

The White Company every time for me! Expensive but long burning times. I change scents according to season - soft and fresh for summer and spicy and warm for the winter. love my candles!

My two favourites at the moment are from Glasshouse, Sydney. They are Saigon Lemongrass and Montego Bay Coconut Lime. I like clean citrusy scents. Recently tried Toffee and it was too sickly.

Hello Brian. I don't know where you live but Glasshouse has a wide range of scents. As I said above, I like the citrus ones but there are lots of others. Jo Malone is good too but super expensive.

Look out for Parks candles, round white box with black writing and edging in tkmaxx, Originally £30 but tkmaxx sell them for £9.99. Do the sniff test. I love the spicy ones. I've got about 15 in my place !!

Love 'scent of home' candles - just divine!

WoodWick candles smell amazing and their crackling sound creates a very cosy atmosphere for the evening.

Some great scents in here - I do love any Jo Malone candle as well. Other than that and anything pine-scented, my favourite scent which I've more recently found is the Seashore scent from The Conran Shop - fresh, clean and subtle, it's pretty much the perfect scent!

Mandarin and Mimosa from Veebeez. Love that there are no nasty chemicals.

I just bought a candle form Muji called Hinoki Wood and it's really quite nice (I can't stop buying) and really inexpensive.

We're spoilt with our showroom filled with some of the best from Baobab Collection. This Platinum in a mirror finish is the choice of many an interior designer as it looks incredible, blends with any colour scheme but of course, the incredible aroma lasts for an age - even without lighting.

I'd have to agree with Uber interiors however, my favourite is the black and white pearled Baobab candle it smells divine! It fills the whole room with a beautiful scent even when it's not lit!
