Kitchen Colour Advice

We collected our house keys and are replacing our kitchen cabinets. An island will be added. The brown white checker flooring and wooden beams have character so we wish to retain them. We are thinking turquoise and white cabinets with engineered stone countertop. A wooden island will host the same quartz countertop. We are exploring pink for the 2 doors which access the living room and laundry area. Will this colour scheme fly? What colour options would work for the kitchen countertop, backsplash and island? We are ditching the dark wood which makes the kitchen look somber and heavy. Grateful for some colour advice!!!

Comments (4)Why stick to plain white (although I agree that it's easier to change the wall colour than the cabinet doors)? If you have a sparkle in your worktops, why not continue with a sparkle in your cabinets? Will still work with your grey walls (and any future colours you might paint them) - will be different and will allow you to add "pops of colour" (how repetitive are design magazines) of any hue you choose! Comments (11)Like Jonathan said it's hard to comment without pictures, but if it makes you feel better, we have just moved house and all our rooms were white. We had pops of colour from cushions, artwork etc and it never felt cold. The only time I didn't like it was when we had packed everything up and so only the bare minimum was out. I couldn't believe how stark the walls looked. The house looked completely different. So I'm just trying to say the soft furnishings completely transform a space. Comments (3)I think your kitchen is lovely. The cabinets are a nice neutral shade and I even like the stove! I particularly like the shelving. If you want to add a bit more drama how about painting the walls a mid grey? It would also go nicely with the stove. Or even an olive green. 9 years agoI understand your desire for a bit of pizzazz....you just don't want too much going on or you'll end up drowning out the features that you want to keep because you like them (the floor and the beams). Good move to forget the pink, but for the turquoise, how about some turquoise accents (a smeg fridge or stove) or a slightly different tone of blue that might go better with the floors.
