Gorgeous table and FAB start. Books for height, a stack of books and a green plant/fresh flowers. Also some height will be good, you do not have to go too high but something tall will do wonders for a table. Here's a picture of mine (sorry it is from Christmas time) but it will give you an idea. The pine is replaced with a fern or some fresh cut flowers, the bowl is always there to coral my manicure set and odds and ends. I found another that shows it styled last spring, sadly both shots are a bit useless as they are so tight you cannot really see much, I nabbed them off my social media postings, but you can see the base of stacked books, skull, candles are a constant then few things change seasonally.

Hi Jillian Getting your brief right at the start of the job is central to its success. Your architect should be able to work with you to help tease out the detail of what you need from the spaces, what you like about it currently and what you don't, how you will use the spaces and how they will connect to the garden and the existing house, among many other things. Everything will follow from this process, and this will usually start with a really good discussion about the existing layout and what works and what doesn't. Don't try to pin the brief down too early. Use the skills that your architect should bring to the project. Architects are problem solvers and should be able to help you identify the key issues and the best ways to solve them. To get the most out of your architect you need to enter into the project with an open mind, look around and talk to a number of companies, and decide who you think you will work best with to make the most of your project. Good jobs are the result of good relationships and collaboration! There are lots of good books out there too. I often point clients in the direction of the grand designs handbook, which is full of inspiration, but also has good information about process too. You can always opt for a nest of two round tables so there's plenty of room for all people sitting on the couch, it can be a nice way of softening up the straight lines of the couch, a bit of balance between masculine and feminine lines.

A round coffee table would work well to pick up on the circular shapes already in the room such as the ceiling roses and even the curves on the new sofa arms. We have a customer that's had these sofa's recently and we went for a scandi style.
