Chores you REALLY don't like doing?
Comments (15)Hoovering? Is that vacuuming? :) I actually love to vacuum! Such a pleasant result! Ironing, dusting and grout are least favorites. I don't buy things that will need ironing, so that's not on the list of must-do's. Dusting is otherhalf's contribution (thank God!). Grout...I try and get by with spray on bleach cleaner....See MorePOLL: What frustrates you most in the kitchen?
Comments (34)Oh, those water stains. I so agree - aa interior design. I moved less than a mile but the water marks in my new home were astonishingly bad compared with before. By chance, Thames Water rang the bell one day to run a water test which showed that water here is the hardest it is possible to be. He explained that, despite moving such a short distance, my water comes from a different reservoir. I couldn't stand it and decided I had to get a water softener. It cost a lot but I can't tell you how liberating it is not to have to spend so much time cleaning, cleaning, cleaning or wiping, wiping, wiping just to manage or get rid of scale and scum. I really recommend it. It's also great knowing that my washing machine, dishwasher, radiators and pipes won't get bunged up and ought to function well for a long time. It took a while to get used to the feel of soft water but I now love it and can't imagine I'd ever not want a water softener again, if I were to move. We try to chat with them - but they polish and was just two answers - I do not understand and Its my property I can do what I want! Council was told its both private properties -we cant do nothing! We just wait maybe they decide to move somewhere . But its just one house in community - where bad neighbours-others are friendly and we make bbq together and do children's parties....See MoreIs this bush alive or dead?!! Help!!
Comments (8)Hi thanks very much for your help. I've looked it up and it seems likely to be caused by Viburnum beetle which was apparently the no 1 pest in UK gardens last year!! I think my bush has had several years damage by the look of it. Gardeners world says: Holes in the leaves of viburnums caused by the larvae and adults of viburnum beetle. Plants can be completely stripped of foliage and can emit a foul smell, which is thought to be caused by the excrement of the larvae. Spray the adults and larvae with an insecticide containing pyrethrum. I am wondering if cutting the bush right back will help as one site suggests this is the most effective way to deal with it as it will get rid of larvae and beetles on the leaves. Will it damage my bush even more if I cut back now or should I wait for the autumn?...See More- 11 years ago
