Kitchen experts - how would you use this space?

We are going round and round with ideas on how to use this kitchen space. The bottom right hand room is our lounge and is staying as such but we are totally open to how, most effectively to use the rest of the area in regards to where kitchen cabinets and windows etc should go. We imagine bifolds right across the back and I would be happy to block the bottom left door. The kitchen currently sits in the top left part of the plan. Any ideas are welcomed!

There are a few independent kitchen designers on Houzz ( myself included ) who would be happy to quote to design a specific layout that will be unique to you, your family and your lifestyle !
Then you can easily shop around and compare like for like and make an informed choice ...
Alternatively you could ask a supplier of kitchens to design for you ?

Yes, I agree - use an independent designer as that way the area will be designed to your requirements. Kitchen companies will only design to their units, so be aware of that. Plus using an independent means that you deal with one person (less hassle for you)

Hi all, A few of you are right, there is currently a doorway from the hall into the playroom, but my husband didn't want two doors into that room! He thinks we won't use both but I have a feeling that, again, I should've stuck with my original idea of having both doors. So, thanks for your thoughts on this - I think we'll be keeping both doors! We did play with the idea of having the utility betwen the playroom and kitchen, or indeed the other side of the house (as you have done jonathanb1972) but the utility room wall is load bearing and because of other work we are having done, we are already having a lot of steels = costs! although it's is a great layout, we couldnt justify the extra expense of also moving soil pipe etc. I should've said that where the shower room will go is already a toilet so we'll just upgrade that. I am wondering now whether to move the french doors over to be near the dining area and have the lounge/living area more snug-like. As you can imagine my husband just wants me to stick with an idea so he can get on with things, but usually when I am not sure, it's because something isn't right - it's just a case of working out what that is, then ta-da! it all drops into place! I think it must be some sort of sixth sense or something, which can be annoying, but when it works, it's great!!

Hiya, Ok so I've converted your measurements into mm so these are equivalent to ft, in drawing we use mm. So I think you will need to close off two windows to the east side to get a decent size walk in wardrobe. I've tried to leverage the longest wall in the bedroom without losing too much floor space. I've added your bed with some bedside tables and as you can see you have plenty of space still around you. Keeping the south side patio doors as that will give you light throughout the day. In terms of your walk in wardrobe I played with different sizes and came up with 50-70-50mm dimensions, you could go bigger or smaller as you have plenty of room. Although I would allow 1metre gap between your bed and the wardrobes otherwise it could get a bit crammed. Also think it would be useful and nice to have a little seat to put on shoes etc. you could even add a seat on the opposite side if you wanted. Allowing to entrances to your walk in wardrobe allows light to flow from one side to the other and it doesn't block your patio doors either. I've added lots of dimensions hope this helps! Thanks Jonathan, I can see how well this design works, however it takes away the garage which we need and we want to try to avoid knocking around the shower room and utility as we want to do as little work (and spend as little of our budget) as possible. We’re trying to see if we can get a decent kitchen/dining are just from the kitchen/living area when it is knocked through.

The cupboard looks pretty deep - good for overall volume but difficult to make the space work well. Something easy could be some wire spice racks (IKEA sell some lightweight metal racks) fixed to the inside of the door for keeping individual bottles and toiletries in. I have done this and it stops things getting buried. I think you have to subdivide that lower space with at least one more shelf. Use a tub filled with less frequently used items at the back of the shelf and then hand towels, larger towels stacked in piles in front. The other way to do it could be a u-shaped shelf (like you get in pantry cupboards). Having really deep shelves isn't that helpful because stuff ends up buried at the back. Underneath the shelf (on the floor of the cupboard) you could have more lidded tubs or zip up laundry bags. Good luck!

I would take the wall down and make it a one room x
Um maybe keep a little area as a unity room x
