Have decided on a pale green by Albany called Seafoam. It is quite light so I can always go darker. Not really into matching bedding fabric to wallpaper but will enjoy picking up the accent colours to be found in the paper as a whole. I remembered today that I actually had a beautiful green on walls of my first studio flat over a decade ago - how could I forget my first love!! Thank you all v.much and yes will update with pics.

Don't go for a green I've done this before the green and grey are really difficult to get right especially a pale green they are too close. I think you may end up with the same situation you have now. Your 2 colours are similar but not enough to get the family vote. It's either scrap that idea altogether, which is a shame- I think it could look great. The look is modern midcentury which would really work with your stairs and won't be too busy to unite the upstairs and downstairs spaces. Trust your first thoughts You'd need to find a way of marrying them together with either a bold contrast colour just a little to enliven the look or go for a subtle pattern with both the back ground wallpaper colour and the grey. I'd vote for the darkest on your selection of 4 May I give one more opinionated comment - don't paint the stairs white, please! I think they really suit the style you appear to be going towards 'midcentury modern' I like this look a lot! -hence my chipping in with an opinion again. Change your ceiling light, if funds allow. Hi, Just starting renovation and need to match some of this wallpaper to save having to redecorate hall and stairs, have checked the attic and no rolls left over from previous owner :( have looked at this Wallpaper site and there is one close but still probably different enough to notice. Any ideas where else could look or any ideas on what name of pattern could be to better google search for a match. Many thanks, Lawrence

Tiling a wall floor to ceiling can sometimes be a rather cold way to finish your bathroom. By all means tile where the sink and bath are but I would use a bathroom paint for the rest of the room which is washable. This also will allow you to re-paint for a different look in the future. For behind the sink a simple white tile would perhaps be less likely to clash with the marble. Stacked tiles look rather smart (2nd pic).
