What colour wall paint will go with this...

Have just placed order for the wallpaper going on my bedroom walls (pictured below). I have a 2-3 weeks wait so in the meantime can you offer up suggestions as to what colour to paint the other walls in the room. The wallpaper will be going on one feature wall measuring 5m width x 2.4 m high. The room itself is not huge at 4.32 x 2.73 (14' 2" x 8' 11") but has decent light with windows flanking two sides. New carpet is a light grey colour called mercury (pictured below) and my bed is 'sunshine' colour as pictured.

More importantly, what kind of bedding will you use? Paint can be matched to bedding, but not the other way around. Wait until this paper comes in. Then take a roll to the linen shops and find the bedding. Then you can decide other colors. You'll want to paint sample boards to see how the colors change in the light. Your paper will be changing too, so don't get the cart before the horse. You'll also want to take a roll of the paper with you to select some sample pots to try. Get large white poster board or foam core and paint a 12" square in the center. Move the boards around the bedroom for a couple of days and nights to see how light influences the colors.

I would try two different paint color options: a light gray blue, and a green. I know if it were my room I would choose a green. There are some wonderful ideabooks here on houzz with suggestions for both of these colors. Good luck -- I love your choices so far!

Make the blinds disappear by painting the window wall the same red. Otherwise they will look a bit 'bitty'. You can also pick up the red with assessories and introduce other colours also with artwork. I think lots of cream or natural linen. IKEA do a lovely striped sofa which has a thin red stripes which would give it a French country feel. Sorry I don't like the brown leather sofa and after reading how leather is mass produced I am now having problems with any leather sofas :(

Hello, I'd love to upload a pic but the app is not letting me at the moment. It's a hall and was thinking the bottom half of it (it's already divided with skirting, creating a "panel" look) should be ochre and the top one in a light neutral (UK, not much natural light). The carpet on stairs will be an ochre / old gold colour. I do like the idea of inverting the colours: lighter for the bottom panel and ochre for the rest, but I'm afraid of it being too much ochre and eventually i would have to paint ochre upstairs too. The bottom panel is about 1 metre high. Thanks.

Hi, Kitchen looks awesome. I like to go for f&b cornforth white, really is a subtle colour which allows the kitchen to really stand out. But it’s enough of a colour to add some interest and not just white. The blues looks nice but personally I find them all quite cold looking.

Another suggestion is Dulux Egyptian Cotton. I had it in my bedroom and it does have slight pink undertones so maybe worth getting a sample pot. It is quite similar to Skimming Stone. I suggest you paint your samples onto A4 cards and try them on different walls in the room stuck with some blue tack. I was advised to do this and it really helps. It works better than lots of paint samples on a wall which can be confusing. Purbeck Stone is a lovely taupe. This is Egyptian Cotton.

Very fun wallpaper! It along with the bed command alot of presence so I would actually keep it simple with an unexpected element. Paint the walls the same colour as the background of the wallpaper and the ceiling the same colour (or slightly lighter) as the bed. This simple matellasé bedding and capiz chandelier tie in the elements of the wallpaper.

deco is so right! Wait until you have the wallpaper in hand. If your carpet has been installed already, take a piece of it with you when choosing textiles and paints. If not, go back to the carpet dealer and get as large a sample as you can, to take with you. I learned the hard way about not including my carpet in the mix :)

Beautiful wallcovering! I suggest painting the other walls a VERY subtle shade of celery green. Try Benjamin Moore, Guilford Green. Add a couple of accent pillows to the bedding in some of the brighter colors featured in the wallcovering: aqua blue or deep purples for example would work very nicely.

I did suggest staying neutral on the walls but the wallpaper has such beautiful colours that I also suggest using one of the colours in furnishings (bedside tables, dresser and/or a chair).

As Decoenthusiaste already mentioned, wait until you get the bedding to pick out the wall color.

There are so many fun things you could do with this space and I just love the colors and the wallpaper!

I suggest the wallpaper go behind your headboard; white walls; white and yellow duvet and Euro bed pillows made from the coordinating fabric to your walllpaper; a pale yellow ceiling.

Lots of food for thought. Seems pale green is a popular consideration, and on the whole the consensus is to keep walls a soft dare I say neutral hue. I should have mentioned that the ceiling is beautiful warm wood and windows are anthracite.

love the wallpaper but pale green might not work for a bedroom - can be slightly clinical depending on the shade - I would stick with white for clean crispness on the walls and for the bedding and bring in the jewel tones in my curtains and accessories. Am thinking a gorgeous chartreuse shade for the curtains in plain weave as that will tone beautifully with the carpet too.

If you go with white bedding, as some have suggested the pale green will be beautiful. If the coordinating fabric is not available, just pull the beautiful aqua and deeper greens for pillows and shams. The gray carpet has me leaning to a very pale gray paint, that has a green undertone as another choice. If you decide to paint the walls to match the background of the wallpaper, then you have the option of bedding in aqua or green, with white accents. Think of using color lamps and other accessories as well.

I am absolutely in love with that wallpaper! I agree with Marla fully - to keep it simple and focus more on the blues and greens accentuating that beautiful wallpaper since the bed is already brightening the room up. Grey-green paint would be beautiful.
I definitely am interested in seeing the room's transformation! :)

Have decided on a pale green by Albany called Seafoam. It is quite light so I can always go darker. Not really into matching bedding fabric to wallpaper but will enjoy picking up the accent colours to be found in the paper as a whole. I remembered today that I actually had a beautiful green on walls of my first studio flat over a decade ago - how could I forget my first love!! Thank you all v.much and yes will update with pics.

My bedroom is green - very restful. Will be even more so if you can place the bed opposite the entry door - proven in improve sleep. Post your final result pix for us, please.

My new kitchen is a greenish grey what colours do you recommend to go with that. this fabric has been suggested as an occasional chair and cushions on a tweed type grey/ brown sofa with dark carpet and one darker feature wall. All will be new.

Keep it simple as you may find the carpeting and cream background may not be too friendly towards each other, in which case you would need the wall paint colour and the bedding to make this work and tie it all together.
