Help with HUGE living room dilemma please!
Comments (42)I think that the fire place is beautiful as it is and does not need any make up!! The sideboard on the right is no so big at all and if painted with different colour than grey and distressed could become a much lighter piece with its own character. I would take the top off the left one and again shabby chick it, filling the doors with ornaments to make it more interesting. It is amazing what a transformation you can achieve with a bit of chalk paint! I am using chalk paint for my oversized wooden clocks and it can give an amazing look to a piece for wood: Giant Shabby Chic Wooden Wall Clock Contemporary Large Wooden Wall Clock Rustic Oversized Handmade Wall Clock Give it try before you get rid of them:) Anna...See MoreLiving room set up help please
Comments (7)Thank you all so much for your replies! Yes, we were thinking of having the more casual relax/Tv area as one section. I was struggling with the seating for the front window area but I very much like the ideas of the poufs and ottomans. We have a chair similar to the picture below which I tried in the area but it’s a weird shape and protrudes into the space awkwardly so I may have to put it somewhere else in the house… With regards to the heavy curtains -I really like the idea! But by a curved pole do you mean one that would bend again beyond the window frame? As the pole is now, I think the curtains would block a fair bit of light even when open. (We didn’t place it there but, again, it’s not the highest priority right now as there’s so much other work to do..) Again, thank you very much. When everything is moved in I’ll post a pic :)...See MoreLiving room layout, please help
Comments (19)Yes absolutely! I would definitely recommend blinds and curtains just to give you flexibility on the amount sunlight in the room for layout 2. Yes the sofa is facing away from the garden, but with the addition of the 2 accent chairs, you still get a lovely view out of the window! :) Ooo absolutely, the joy of sketching it out just give you more ideas and food for thought. That is definitely an idea, the media unit will be the focal point in the room for sure and you don't want it too look to small in the room - I would be tempted to make it a bit bigger and make sure that the TV would be in good spot from the sofa. Too far along and you won't get a great view and that is important for this room! Let me sketch it up for you so at least you can have a look at the options. Comments (4)Sorry, posted before I'd finished. You do need to try testers in the room at different times of the day. Once the walls are painted and furniture and ornaments are in place, you won't see just the colour of the walls. In a South East facing room the colour will be at its most "true" late morning/midday...See More- 11 years ago
