Please can anyone help with a Design Plan for our Bedroom?
Comments (12)Hi Claire, Do the doors actually open inwards into the room? How about considering place the bed in the center of the room facing the doors? You would disguise the back of the bed with a thin console table which have some dressing style storage (jewelry etc) and can hold some tall flowers and candles to set the mood on entering. There's lots of ways you can add the luxury feel you are looking but this would create real impact and make the bed the real feature of the space. If budget allows I would hang lights from the ceiling ad beside lights and layer up on dressing for an even more luxurious feel. I have attached one of my clients bedroom design (single room re-design package) to show you the hanging lighting idea - if this isn't possible then a well placed small chandelier style light would have a great effect on the space. I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing the finished room - it will look stunning I am sure! all the best, Gina...See MoreBedroom help please!
Comments (16)Hi Katie - it sounds gorgeous! However - as mum of a teenage daughter, she convinced me a couple of years ago to decorate her room including a wall of very expensive wallpaper. It looked amazing! But just like most teenagers, her taste changed quickly and within 18 months (tops!) the wallpaper was off. She now has painted walls again and much prefers it because she can change the look very easily. I don’t want to put a dampener on your plans as they are lovely - but I would certainly be cautious!!!...See MoreBoys bedroom help please!
Comments (6)Hello @MS! Here is my advice, I hope it will help you :) For the shelves, be careful where you're going to place them from the top bed, to avoid your child bumping into them (measurements first). Then, I would either recommend using a narrow shelf like the one in the first picture or the Ikea space rack in the second picture. If you keep the bookcase, I would put the shelf halfway between the bookcase and ceiling. You can also remove the bookcase to create a reading nook / area with the beanbag. For the corner, you can use corner shelves or you can also alternate book boxes (3rd picture) on the facing wall (where the bookcase is) and side wall, to bring some dynamism. The dark wood with industrial brackets shelves could work well with the red metallic bedside table and blue of the bed and give an industrial vibe. However, I would tie everything together with an additional colour (light blue, green, orange, yellow) . As it's a children's room, you can keep it really playful and paint shapes in the corner or above the bed (see first picture). A rounded shape like an arch would bring more balance to the room as there is a predominance of straight rectangular shapes. For the white cupboards, I think you can keep them as they are or change to a mat black. What you can do is paint the inside panelling of the doors to echo with the colours you're going to put on the opposite wall or with the bed. Comments (4)With that paint colour you could go for a lighter or darker green with the curtains - I’d suggest doing the paint & the wallpaper first get a couple of fabric samples in lighter & darker shades & see how each shade makes you feel when you put them next to the paint. The lighter shades would give a more spring like, country garden / cottage style feel to the room whereas a the darker green would give a more boudoir, opulent vibe....See More- 11 years ago
