I've had a look at activewindowfilms.co.uk sounds like there may be a small amount of light reduction, at the price it's worth a trial though. Yes, people stare straight in here! It's a bit uncomfortable when you feel like you have eye contact with a stranger when you're eating your dinner! :-) I guess it's human nature though... I'm not sure I can handle bolder with the splashback, mostly because I'm keen to keep it as neutral as possible, so that other items can be changed as fashion changes or if I sell up at some point. I had considered a mirror splash back.. I wasn't going to tile, just glass upstands below the sockets. 14:27 For privacy I think the first option would work if it really is invisible as it appears. The watery colour of the splashback works with the blinds and art. I wonder whether to go a bit bolder though? Are you tiling at all? Where did you get find the invisble film? I may try that as a temporary solution until we can afford shutters or curtains. People literally stop and gawp at our dining room!

Regarding how easy it is to take the Blinds-2go blinds on/off (e.g. for cleaning, when your windows open inwards): I asked my partner who fitted ours, and he says that basically there are two small circle shaped pieces at either end of the roller. The roller then slots in to these (one on the left and one on the right), and then you twist and - et voila - it is held securely. He says that that because the roller is held fairly tight between the two end pieces it's not a job you would want to be doing regularly, but occasionally now and then for cleaning would be fine.

Thank you every one. UV filters would be good as we don't have them. We have an external awning but I discovered last week that when the sun is low at this time of year it gets under it.(the living room is on the first floor) The floor and the bottom of the settee were very warm. It took me by surprise as I thought the awning which stretches out a good distance would be sufficient.

Good evening, If it were my house I would go for shutters. Like you say, they really do have the wow factor and look fab inside and out. I think you'll be surprised that shutters aren't that much upkeep, and you often have the benefit of being able to choose to divide the run of slats so you can tilt the bottom half or top half independently from one another (thinking about your sunny rooms and being able to flex how much light you let in!) It is very much a personal choice though, so if you really feel like the cleaning will be too much - the integrated blinds will remove that completely! All the best with your project :) Dani
