Hi. Are you able to take a picture from in front of the 3 seater sofa or add a floor plan at all? Are the sofas tan or brown (it looks tan in one pic!). Do you have 2 x 2 seaters (plus the 3 seater) or is that an armchair? What way does the room face in terms of light? Are you looking to repaper or just paint the walls? Are you changing the curtains? Finally, do you have a lot of books to store? Sorry for all the questions but hopefully you'll get good advice from everyone. Thanks!

-- It is a well-lit room as it also has skylights

-- light tan sofas
-- no plan to change curtains
-- the idea is to have some kind of bookcase on either side of the curtain (which will not change) but I hope the bookcases will provide the change of colour/look in the room
-Don't have lots of books to store hence was thinking half cupboards & half book shelf/display unit which will only be partially filled with books. Coloured back will add colour

Bookcase with doors to cover up the books is more neat. In feng shui, bookcase that has open shelves bring shar chi because the shelves are like blades.

Thanks again. I agree the TV looks out of place and one might argue that the TV should nt be in this room at all but practically speaking if the TV isn't here, this room will not get used at all! It is currently placed slightly out of sight as the TV is behind on the left as we enter the room. Putting anywhere else will bring attention to it. I will get a wooden TV stand too along with the other furniture which will make it look better

Getting wooden/engineered wood floors -- darkish oak with bookcases/display cabinets behind the sofa on either side of the curtain from floor to ceiling

And yes -- they will be partially covered. The uncovered but I will use for a few books and also my home cinema speakers/photo etc

Thanks. I can't see the colour of the curtains but If you are willing to lose the cushions, a pale blue would work with both the tan and gold. The colours at the moment are quite warm so it would nice to add a cool colour to give it some contrast. Given the style of the room I would add an upholstered footstool/coffee table in the blue and cushions etc. As the back window is off centre I am struggling with how 2 tall bookcases would look. A tall bookcase on the left may work with a cabinet/sideboard on the right with lamps etc to give height. I totally get what you've said re the tv but maybe one idea is to get a cabinet that encloses it. I'd move the tv to where the sofa is on the right and move that sofa opposite the other one and place the armchair next to the fire (assuming there is room with photo angles!). If you're going for a dark oak floor I'd go for light oak furniture or even something painted to offset against the floor. It's a lovely room already though so feel free to ignore as I just have a thing about tv's!

I like the bookcase on one side and cabinet/sideboard on the other very much -- it will also allow me to put a family pic on the wall on that side-- thank you
