What is the species of wood used for this deck? It is VERY attractive!

Thanks for commenting. The top rail is Meranti. We use 2 layers of 1 x 12 glued together with marine epoxy and cut to the radius.

This is such a beautiful design for a deck! I love the color of the wood used. Do you think this wood would be alright during the winter? I would like to do something like this but I want to make sure the deck will last for a good long time. http://www.distinctivedeck.ca/companyprofile.html

It could work if the floor is much paler, as in the example below, but it’s tricky. I think a nice pale grey or pale beige floor would be less of a clash. Laminate comes in many styles, not just wood effect, so worth visiting some flooring stockists to have a look. Or how about LVT which is warmer underfoot and seems to be very popular? Looks like the dowels were too long? Did they come with the table? If so then it’s their fault. This happened with a bath I had installed. They had supplied screws that were too long so they went straight into the bath! Luckily my plumber got a replacement from the suppliers.

You can’t beat Oak. Timber prices have more or less doubled over the past few months. Oak has beautiful grain but if it’s down to budget then either of the others you suggest would do the job.

I have white cupboards with a laminate ash wood worktop. For the flooring I opted to tie the two colours together with a stone effect that had some white and ash- like tones. Different woods can clash but continuing the same tone could work well. If you have samples, I'm sure people on here could offer further advice.

The wood is ipe. I think it is the most durable deck product. I have 30 year old projects that are still perfect. I have never had to replace an ipe deck. I can't say that about any other product. Don't worry about the winters. The summer sunlight is any decks worst enemy. Winter is like putting produce in the fridge. It helps it to last longer.

Pourriez vous nous parler de la teinture (compagnie, couleur etc)? J'aime beaucoup la couleur, je la chercher depuis plusieurs années pour mon patio de cèdre.
