The technical quality has got much better over the years and they seal so well - better now than sliding (except if you spend huge amounts of money) They stack smaller (and therefore can blend more) than large folding/hinged. My view would be that you should have a smaller hinged door somewhere close to for quick/easy access

The hardware comes in various lengths and can be bought from several sources, such as:- Amazon sliding barn door system Ecrater Uk I don't know of any doors like that in the UK and suspect that they are not sourced from here. You could achieve a similar effect by buying pine doors & painting the glazing bars black
