What colour window frames?
Comments (3)I like grey frames also,I have a tan bricked house and thought of doing the same thing. I took a photo of my house, and in photo shop,I got my designer to superimpose the cad drawings of the new style windows over my old windows,to give me an idea of what style and colour would work,i am glad I did because the grey looked awful. It's a lot of money to spend so it might be worth looking into this. I'm really not sure that grey windows would work well for you,I hope that other Houzzers will chip in with ideas....See MoreWindow frame colour?
Comments (3)The extension is being built in stone to match the house. We intend on staying here long term (unless we win the lottery!). I've been planning the build for nearly a year so have given it a lot of thought......I think I'm just having the last minute wobbles!!!...See MoreExterior makeover - render and window frame colour advice
Comments (36)That colour was f&b stony ground which is actually red based but I think must have some green in, I thought it would work with the terracotta tiles. Something like the lighter shaded white may also work although colours are normally a couple of shades lighter on the exterior. The previous owners of our house painted it farrows cream, I swear it gets more yellow each day! I don’t know anything about the render tbh but I don’t think it needs any maintenance for 20-30 years hence the initial application cost is dearer. I’ve attached this link as I’ve come across a few similar comments (but as I say I don’t know anything about the render and you’re always going to get negative reviews of things). It might be worth creating a separate post on traditional versus through coloured render if you have any concerns? http://www.ebuild.co.uk/topic/15160-traditional-render-v-k-rend/...See MoreWindow frame colour dilemma
Comments (7)Hi LTS I can confirm that greyish green looks good with red brick and render, this is my house at the back with F&B Light Grey 17 windows (bottom image). I can also confirm that it looks good with black as you can see from the soffits etc. However, anthracite can have a blue tinge and therein lies the problem. I'm not saying that it won't work but it may be worth looking at the hue of the different greens. Forget how 'grey' the green is and think about how yellow green it is or how blue green it is - it can't be both. My windows are yellow/green so I think they are too far away in hue from anthracite to work. However, if you were to look at bluer greens (which can also be greyed) then you find find a better match. The top image shows how blue anthracite is, the middle image shows a blue green (Pigeon) and the bottom is yellow green. You could buy some test pots and paint in on the frames near the anthracite. Hope this helps and isn't too confusing....See MoreEmmanuelle
