By the way, Maria ... I bought the teacups at none other than at a Wilko store (UK)!! They often have some lovely accent items there. Also, at Amazon UK, I purchased a number of very realist flicker battery candles, to cast a gorgeous, romantic evening glow. My three oak furniture pieces were expensive, as was the sofa, but honestly, all the finishing touches are very affordable and were vital in creating the look I was after. I'm so glad you like it. The green wall, (with pink accents), is daring, but I find it very relaxing. As for the fireplace and fire, they were purchased separately. I tracked down the Georgian-style surround on eBay, and the 'electric' fire, from Dimplex. I hope all this is of some use. Jeanette

When I ran a business from home, I had a huge desk and it was always full of junk and I had what I used to call "a lasagna" approach to paperwork, it just used to be in layers. I'd put papers to one side, and then put more papers to the same one side, and then more and more. It was the worlds most untidy desk. Consequently, I certainly wasn't something I wanted to preserve for posterity in a photo. LOL

I've used Frenchic paint on numerous items and their top coat really does work well as a protecter and sealant - it's not going to be as hard wearing as your current finish is but if you use a coaster with cups and don't drop anything heavy on it, it should be fine. It's worth giving surfaces a light sand and wipe down before painting too.
