This looks very Italian. Main problem seems to be the overhead lighting and the artwork which is too small. Some table lamps on small tables for softer lighting. Also some paler curtains . If privacy is an issue, light sheer curtains rather than patterned lace and then a plain curtain, possibly pale grey, and a large matching rug without a pattern as there is a lot of patterns in the furniture. The chandeliers are very grand but give a rather hard light.
