Cooker hood help!

I am after a stylish 90cm stainless steel chimney style cooker hood. It's to go over a Barazza hob. Any suggestions? I am considering the range master or the smeg. I don't care about the brand but want it to look good as it will be very visible and be high performance as it's an open plan kitchen and with little noise!!

I used to work for Aga/Rangemaster and their build quality is very good. You could try their customer service team on 0800 8046261 or 0370 7895107 and they will tell you which is lowest noise generating. In addition, I would recommend that you not only check the decibel levels of the models you are considering from the product specifications, but if you can try and listen to other people's hoods and compare to see if you think you can tolerate them in your space. A difficult process, especially as most kitchen showrooms don't have working models just show pieces. Best of luck.

We do a lot of work with the Siemens range which are very well designed both for purpose and aesthetics. They rate individually for extraction and noise levels so you can decide where in the range you can stretch to budget wise to balance performance.

Take a look at the LC97BE532B for a classic sleek look on a reasonable budget or something like the LC98KA570B if you want a real design feature that will deliver excellent performance both extraction and noise wise. You can either internally scrub or externally vent any of them.

Hi, Happy to have been of help! I have no personal experience with those 2 brands but thought it'd be wise to put a variety of price ranges so you could choose what suits your budget. If you are looking for a quality long term investment it may be worthwhile spending a little extra on the miele! With that said, sometimes the cheapest options are the quality ones (We purchased many high end electric showers with no luck but a more cheaper triton shower lasted for a good 5 years before we removed it to renovate). Hi Huw, The minimum height requirement for a hood above a electric hob is 650mm and for Gas it is 750mm. Bear in mind that standard glass splash-backs are 750mm high so if you have it fitted higher there will be a gap. The chimney can be cut down to suit but if it is vented out of the wall you will need room for the extractor tube. Hope this helps. Phillip from Klass kitchens.

It's completely up to you and what you feel looks right. Obviously the closer the extraction the better it will work and 750 is the usual distance from the cooktop. However, if you prefer the higher bridging unit, that will be completely fine too as steam goes up! good luck Emily x

Agree with all the above, especially about wren not pointing out to you about the extractor and speaking of which, what sort of extractor are you considering over the hob because you might have an issue with clearances. Ideally with electric hobs and especially induction the size of the extractor needs to be much wider than the hob https://www.neutratest.com/en/cooker-hood-guide/need-to-know-about-cooker-hoods/width to capture steam and cooking smells. Looking at the elevation my concern is will the wall unit door thats inline with the peninsular open ok once there's an extractor in position, Your hob is about 750 from the wall, wall unit is 300ish deep and if its a 500 door then its going to open to 800 and be over the hob/extractor zone.
