Hello Pirbhai_s, So some ideas for you that you may like or not.....The first thing I would recommend is... Can you move the downstair loo? You don't really ideally want that in the same space as the kitchen.. On a practical note this then affords you more space when planning.. With no measurements or an idea of what you are looking for I can only suggest ideas that you could consider- you need to measure and plan quantities...... You have two windows which means there is light.. So that's great. Starting from the left window I'd suggest putting in the sink under the first window.. Then having a worktop going round with cupboards underneath.. Where the loo is you could take that out and put the oven. Here there are several ideas.. You could have a 45 cm pull out larder.. Free standing hob and oven with extractor fan over the top and small work top to the right before the door.. It all depends on the space between the wall and the (entrance to kitchen) door. Regulations stipulate that you cannot put an oven right next to a wall, but leave a gap between wall and oven. At least that is what I have had to do and been told on numerous occasions. Safer if there were a fire... : ))

So I suggested a pull out larder for food storage then oven and little worktop to the right of it. That means that you would have an under the counter top fridge and cupboards on the other side... You want to maintain a triangular relationship with the oven, fridge and sink... So fridge opposite the oven and the sink to the left under the first window.. opposite the (entrance to kitchen door) Something else to consider... Do you need that second door? If not then you could carry the worktop round and possibly have a double height fridge and then you could consider other options for the oven... Wall mounted double oven or hob and oven separately..

Personally I prefer a free standing hob and oven like Smeg see images... Duel Fuel and one is the 90 cm 6 burner and the other is the 60 cm 4 burner.. They are very stylish and really practical for cooking... For extractor something on a slant gives the appearance of being less obtrusive.. AEG do a good one (see image Or the last images shows something built in but painted as the walls so it blends in) Now because you have two windows you are limited on over head cupboard space, hence the pull out larder...Highly practical for food storage next to a corner wall, leaving the cupboards under the worktop on the sink side and all around to be filled with pots, pans etc... If you were able to lose the second door, then you could have some wall mounted cupboards.. Or a shelf or two...

Simply painted wood in a nice white with some wooden brackets from IKEA are really stylish... 3 brackets per 1 m2 length of wood. Good raw plugs and then you can put crockery on these and other essentials.. I would choose a lovely wooden work top and lovely wooden chopping boards stacked up.. but you could have, granite, slate, concrete, marble or whatever you like in your budget...For the cupboards... Really stylish painted wooden ones are in... Something like the colour seen in the images below... There is a dark version which is also really in and the matt look as opposed to gloss! You want eggshell or low sheen... The really really stylish kitchens right now are DeVol, Plain English and they are super expensive... You can create that look without the big £££. It's what I specialise in...If you prefer chrome and a more masculine look then go with darker cupboards and light walls... Chalky like whitening from Little Greene is a good one, which you can carry to the ceiling.. You can add lovely chrome pieces like the Dualit toaster and kettle... I'm a big chrome fan myself and also love the chrome kitchenaid mixer for the ladies.. So a few ideas for you... : ))

AJ Interior styling - thanks soo much! Just a few things i should mention - i have tried to find a space to fit the downstairs loo but have struggled to do so - the only way round this is to possibly have the entrance to the kitchen further in so the loo becomes part of the hallway . My concern then is that i would be making the kitchen smaller! the second door leads into the alley - it is the only access i have to the alley so can't really shut that off. I'm looking for ample storage space. i also prefer the oven to be in a wall unit as opposed to under the hob. I am also looking at the possibility of adding a conservatory - this would mean that the window opposite the entrance would be turned into a door and i can put my dining table in the conservatory. i'm having problems adding the photos - not sure why but will try again later

Really struggling with this!

Hello Pirbhai_s, Welcome! Well decisions need to be made re the conservatory before you can decide what to have where, but certainly re arranging the entrance to the loo would be good! You can then still do what I had suggested once the doorway has been blocked off.. If you can access the loo from the kitchen door side by putting in a door that side.. In this way you keep as much space as possible in the kitchen. You are only losing the outline of the loo area. If the room from the second door allows for a pull out larder then you could still have that, along with a wall unit oven but then would need to have a hob... This takes even more room.. In a small space you will have to think of a compromise.. You could be clever and have an induction hob which lends itself when not in use to worktop.... If you have a worktop that blends into the hob then the view is not broken.. ie something similar in colour.. Although I was veering away from dark worktops... What you need to decide on is the conservatory aspect...

Only then can you see what you have to work with cupboards wise and finish wise.. You could also have a more open plan kitchen dining area, as you have mentioned.. then no need to have a minimal hob look that blends with the worktop. You could also consider a dresser in the conservatory for crockery and things... thus freeing up space in the kitchen.. In addition you would then be able to lose the other door, as it would be surplus to requirements, so you could make use of that space for storage cupboards, worktop and shelving for example.... The sink could then sit in front of the other window.. : ))

Hello Pirbhai_s, You could also create a new door opening into your current living dining area.. Moving the door from the entrance side of the room or simply creating another doorway which is even better. So from the kitchen side you could either turn left into the living dining or walk through the door(s) into the conservatory.. You then don't need to go back out of the kitchen door and into the hall to go into the living/dining room, and equally if you're coming in from the front door, you don't need to go into the kitchen to get to the living room, so I would add another door.... you can choose then which rooms to use and create multiple uses... with the kitchen, living and (possible) conservatory all having flow, which is important with any home. : ))

thinking of adding the conservatory to provide an extra room where i will most likely have my dining table. the window will then become a door.

Hello Hillary59, Of course it isn't just for the ladies! ... but just a little humour on my part because of my very specific taste and finish recommendation! I love the chrome mixer and anything chrome for that matter... Dualit toaster for me is a design classic and something not to be without in the kitchen... It has an industrial feel and thus more masculine perhaps but I love it for that reason., so anything with this aesthetic like the Kitchenaid mixer I would go for... I'm not really a pink, cherry or frosted mint.. (Other kitchenaid colours) kind of girl!
