Hello. I’m looking for some advice on looped carpets, which I ordered for my house, 100 sq/m in total. Two of the five carpets cuts had faults and were unusable. There was a five week wait for the independent carpet assessor visit but could not repair them. Two replacement pieces were ordered and these were even more heavily faulted. The manufacturer now requests that I wait a further month for even more replacement carpet. This installation has taken two and a half months so far and my whole house has been upside down throughout! Please let me know if looped carpets are always this vulnerable to manufacturing faults. The carpet is made by Alternative Flooring and retails at £54.95 sq/m.

In my opinion it depends on budget. The best option is to take off the wood cladding and coving and then get a plasterer in. The budget option is to sugar soap these walls to ensure there is no wallpaper paste residue, then fill and sand any cracks and also use decorators calk to fill cracks in corners and next to woodwork. Then you need to mist coat the walls which is basically a watered down coat of paint. When that is dry it will need two rollered coats of emulsion (3 if it’s a strong colour). A very flat Matt paint shows imperfections least. After the first coat of paint check it for any bits that might need more filling. In conclusion the key to a nice finish on the walls is lots of preparation and then a low/ no sheen paint.

dark carpet or carpet that flows. what are peoples thoughts?

@Tinklebell 208 how did you remove it? The piling is so attached to the carpet it doesn't come off when hoovering. It's like I need to cut every single piece off with scissors which will take forever! Hoping to find a quicker alternative, is there anything you did?
