Thank you Minnie for these observations. - For the peninsula: we currently have a 2400 run of cupboard (on one side 4 x 60, other 2 x 900 + 600) and 300 for the overhang - hence a total of 2700. I see your point more starkly now: i calculate I would have 1200 between the island and the wall - which may kill the sense of ease for moving around. May be best to switch the seats as you have it on your picture and loose a bit of storage. - Yes the render has a splashback, but I will go for a lower upstand with slim wall lights as you suggest. - I am stuck with the fridge so trying to get as much SS on the ovens is a good idea. - I agree that the small cupboard with shelves opened would have been nice, but I need this space to put things away. A thought was whether one day, this hinged door would be good in wood. Many thanks again. Isabelle

In terms of layout you could have a small double bed (1.2 by 1.9) in the bottom right corner with a drawer at the right foot end and sliding wardrobes along the right wall next to it, then on the right could be a long desk/gaming table with feature wall behind. i would make the bed nook a sofa by day with enough shelving/lighting and comfortable back rests as is practicable so you can quickly clear away for sleep, you could build out the side of the wardrobe for a light and shelving for example. Do you have high ceilings? if so utilse this as much as possible to keep the floor area clear. Excuse the scruffy drawing

Before doing anything, your cooker switch is in an unsafe zone above your hob and needs to be moved, also having your airfryer [13 amp] and something else plugged in with your double up socket extension is severely overloading the cooker circuit. Technically for a cooker switch with socket outlet, the circuit design allows for a 5 amp load when calculating/testing circuit design, i think that if this was inspected it would be considered unsafe - i'd suggest getting a qualified electrician in to add more sockets safely before doing any tiling.
