Help with kitchen
Similar to my bathroom dilemma - we have an Ikea Varde kitchen which is looking a little old and dated. We've inherited it with the house 9 years ago but we made a few changes and added to it - as in the first few pictures. After a little while we moved the cooker, as it was always in a daft place, changed a few cabinets around and painted the walls. Trouble is, it's still looking a bit rubbish and dated so I want to know if you think we should rip it out and install a new kitchen.
The Varde kitchen is essential free standing so you're left with gaps all over so it looks less fitted and a bit messy. We have walk in pantry that has all of the food including the fridge freezer so there's no need to put that in the kitchen. Same with a utility room for the washer and dryer. Kitchen is a medium size at 3.4m (cooker side) x 4.0m (sink/window side)
They say kitchens and bathrooms sell houses so do i need to change mine - be honest, I can take it....

Terrible position for the cooker (pantry is through that door)
Jiggled around a little (end cupboard looks out of place but it was the only one that fit)
Moved cooker and bought a few more cabinets

Comments (33)Hi so this is what I had in mind. Although it ideal I think it would be too expensive for now to remove that lone cupboard. So an idea would be; 1. Paint the walls white 2. Paint the cupboards pale grey: http://www.farrow-ball.com/paint/Paint-For-Kitchen-Cupboards 3. Get nice oak laminate floor from Homebase or B&Q 4. It may cost between £200 and £300 to fit the floor with underlay. But totally worth it. 5. Cheap grey sofa (maybe not corner sofa) or second hand sofa, max those dimensions on the plan. I bought two cheap ones from Homebase for our back room and they're totally fine. 6. Farmhouse table with bench / Eiffel chairs 7. Tv bench and side table from ikea 8. Comments (4)I think shortening the lounge is a great idea. Could the new kitchen door go through the cupboard in the hall next to the shower room? This would make the new wall nicely balanced with the window in the new dining room. Comments (5)As mentioned by the others, having tiles and upstands together would look rather bizarre. I’d suggest removing the upstands and adding white or dark grey tiles. You could also add white tiles with dark grey designs to maintain the colour scheme that you’ve got going. Tiles would also be much easier to clean, and if you choose dark grey tiles, any stains wouldn’t be visible at all. I recently got my entire kitchen redesigned with the help of these kitchen fitters called Saturn Interiors. They took care of all the minor and major details, so I didn’t have to worry about any of it. If you want to, you could consult with them about this issue.
