Hi, It looks like you already have a dark wood feature mirror in that room so have you thought about having matching shelves in the same colour? Chunky floating ones would look nice to hold towels on etc. If you wanted to go even further, then you could have the wall built out so that the shelving was recessed into the wall with little lights above each shelf - but of course it's a lot more work & money!

There are many steel brackets that can support this type of shelf. I once created a wall of shelving out of scaffold boards and the brackets came from Screwfix. I'm sure they still do them or something similar. I had them set in at the side by about 300mm. If you are concerned about weight you could always add a bracket in the centre. Etsy has some lovely steel ones that come in many colours or you could spray them. The bracket is L-shaped with a 45deg crossbrace.
