ASAP NEED HELP WITH MY FISH!

I have recently purchased into (what I believe to be) a Comet goldfish and a black goldfish (imagine shown; not sure what it really is). And I have a starter pack fish tank; size: length 30cm x depth 18cm x height 22.5cm. I got the fish tank thursday and added the water and saturday I purchased the two fish.
Unfortunately this morning I saw that the black goldfish had died during the night so made the fish tank cloudy (I presume) BUT the Comet goldfish 'Chief' is still alive but it doesn't seem in good shape.
When I first got 'Chief' he seemed okay in his new tank, I slowly introduced the tank water with the water I had previous got him in, so both the waters mixed together he seemed fine, exploring his new environment, but slowly him and the other fish worryingly calmed down. Although the black goldfish was acting up first (laying at the bottom of the tank) Cheif was always at the top of the tank, getting air. This morning I cleaned them out and put more water in that I previously made the night before. Ever since this morning, when i found the the dead fish. Chief has been doing what he had done, laying at the bottom of the tank, not coming up for air, but still breathing fins and tail is moving, then he would stop and then hit the ground again, it is like a continuous cycle. He tail is mostly below his head And is hiding behind his decorations in the tank but occasionally his tail looks bright and healthy and how it should be. He has a filter and is being fed once a day but he hasn't eaten today, should I be worried? This is what the other goldfish did before he died. I thought it was him struggling to swim through the Ripples of water from the filter.
Also I have added a background for him to be more comfortable. I don't know what to do ?!!
In the imagine of the whole tank it looks misty but it is mainly clear there is just a brown envelope behind the tank.
Can someone please help me !!!!

houssaon I sat with a piece of it on my floor this morning and I screamed to myself 'what am I doing , Ive got rid of an axminster for this ! ' so I went to the shop and have found a neutral brown carpet 80% wool which suits a large rug I have and should bring out the colours in my new suite , I am glad I took the rug with me because the small chair is a near match to the suite, and the rug/ chair look nice together . I was tired and stressed late last night having taken up my old carpet last night in 1 piece in case I ever thought about putting it back ! everything now happens Thursdaywhen the carpet is fit and the dining suite and lounge suite is installed Ill upload. youve asked about my style ? Im going for the stressed look ! no I want a classy look but also minimalistic due to it not being a big through lounge thanks for your comments to date ps anyone want an axminster !

In addition to all the advice regarding the accessory I would work on making the light more yellow rather than blue as it's the case right now? it seems that there is no much natural light from the picture and it will make a huge difference to change and adapt the lighting.

I would consider a wallpaper on the fireplace wall with a large mirror above the mantle to balance the fireplace - I don't think the photo canvas is working where it is...if you're against wallpaper then consider some freestanding shelving units - perhaps with cupboards at the bottom for additional storage and use them to display books/treasures/lamp etc - you could even buy inexpensive ones from Ikea and then paint with chalk paints (goes on anything) and top coat with Farrow and Ball interior eggshell to make it wipeable.

Hi Lola, I like the sketches "Man about the house" did, these show a simple corridor. The issue may be that the thickness of the wall takes off the room and it creates a very dark corridor. I had an almost identical problem on a recent project so I did a glass wall with sliding glass doors. This saved space and allowed loads of light into the hall area. I also added full length curtains behind the glass for privacy obviously. Here is a picture of the room when it was finished.
