Remodel of downstairs space - advice needed!
Comments (12)Have attached your modified plan. I took down the wall between the kitchen and the study / playroom to give you a big Kitchen / diner. Reclaimed some of the lounge for a smaller playroom. You don't need a vast second lounge as you already have a sitting room. It made the Kitchen / Diner a much more useable space. ( All subject to load bearing walls / planning etc ) You may want to move the current door to the kitchen from the middle to one end, to give yourself the best chance of a good run of kitchen units!...See MoreLighting design help - needed urgently ASAP
Comments (6)I do have several comments/suggestions for you. It is worth planning where your table is going and lighting appropriately. If this is your main dining area, or you plan to entertain you will definitely want to be able to dim the lights. I'm not sure how serious a cook you are, but you might prefer to have spotlights over the island for task lighting and pendants over the table. Height of the lights and bulb brightness would affect this decision. Speaking totally as a layperson, it looks like you would need some lighting between the island and the right hand side of the room. LED spotlights do not light laterally as far as you think they might and you could end up with a dull area. Finally, you will be asked if you want warm or white spotlights, so be sure you know how your choice will affect the colour of things like the floor and cupboard surfaces. Good luck with your project....See MoreAdvice on kitchen extension plan please
Comments (9)Hi JMK, looking at the size and orientation of the bifold doors to the room it maybe worth considering sliding doors more than bifold doors (FYI we do award-winning versions of both systems so we have no bias towards one type of door) Based on the drawings I would estimate the opening to be around 4.8m wide which would most likely be a 5-panel set of bifold doors or you could opt for a 3 panel sliding door with panel widths around 1.6m wide and slim intermediate frames in between. At these sizes the opening would look something like the below images - this is a 3-panel version of theEDGE2.0 our ultra-slim sliding door system with 20mm intermediate frames. If you would like more information about theEDGE2.0 or our German made SUNFLEX bifold doors you can visit our website or email us at info@idsystems.co.uk...See MoreAdvice please on best way to extend our kitchen?
