I remember watching "Grand Designs" and featuring this. From what I recollect: * They are great for the environmant and can be added to as and when you like. * They are wired, insulated and heated the same as any structure. Otherwise too hot in summer and freezing in winter. * Construction is quicker than a traditional build. * What you save on cost you may end up spending on the purchasing of the land, connecting utilities etc. * You don't build with refrigerator containers - just the normal metal ones and they are insulated and lined by a builder to be both sound proof (imagine hailstones on a metal box) and heat insulated. *They are just as safe as any other house to live-in because they still have to be signed off by building regulations. * The main disadvantage of container homes is that they are high maintenance - think about metal - it rusts. However, as the architect below shows, cladding prevents this and it looks amazing! As for Oz based companies it could be worth asking reputable builders - there is no reason why a building company wouldn't stretch itself to create one - afterall it would be a string to their bow.

@Roomhe3-by-Room (UK) Ltd thank you for your comment. I did a rough mock up of your suggestions on PPT and the slate tiles and dormer with grey windows makes a dramatic difference. I really like the look of it! The current concrete roof tiles we have are believed to be original from the 1950s when the bungalow was built, and if I have done my research correctly, it has to come to an end of its life span of 50 years so it may be worthwhile to redo the roof too. Would love to opt for slate tiles but have heard these are more expensive than concrete tiles. We don't have a big budget but would like to go for something similar in appearance and durability as slates at a lower cost. Is there something on the market that fits this profile like concrete roof tile in grey slate colour? This is my first building project and knowledge of materials is very limited! Thank you

I can see you have a radiator under the window, which might be an issue, but adding curtains would soften the lines. Having an extra long curtain rail, so the curtains can be drawn right back would mean you wouldn’t lose light coming in. Removing those blinds would also soften the look. I also think the placement of the pictures on the walls doesn’t help, as your eye follows them around in a line. I think some larger artwork would help or group the pictures you have - they’re too small to be displayed individually. A rug would be great and possibly moving the sofa out from the wall slightly, even at an angle with a tall lamp or plant behind it in the corner (or a plant on a small table for height).
