A popular Italian saying claims that there are two types of people – one can't start their day without making the bed after they wake up, and the other that can't be bothered with such details.

ALWAYS. Getting back into a nicely made bed at the end of the day is worth it!

I'll always give it a once over before I leave but sometimes in the morning I'm in such a rush that it's not maybe what you'd call 'made'...it still looks nice though just a bit crumpled!

Homejoy! wow! that is expensive! My cleaning team asks €8 an hour and this includes windows (I have heard some companies do not, or they actually charge extra!!!), shutters, terrace, yard area, laundry, ironing, hauling out the recycling to a common area - light cleaning or very heavy cleaning, indoor or outdoor, all for the same €8. And they have a key to my house. They are now doing all my neighbors as well. I actually pay €10 an hour as they have to come a half hour and they are very flexible and are happy to come last minute weekends when possible. I do my own cleaning but this team does the heavy stuff (windows, shutters, cupboards, kitchen appliances, polishing the floor) every 10 days, so I am normally ready for drop in guests. I wish I had them more often!!!!

I used to allow my Burmese anywhere and the wake up 'boofs' - cat talk for running up the bed and patting me on my face to wake me to feed them - were lovely. Then I started showing and breeding & got more cats. I'd wake to find myself on the edge of the bed while they sprawled out over 7/8ths of it! Now they all sleep in the kitchen, but kittens are due next month and will be born in my bedroom. No doubt my 1st time 'mummy' will bring them onto the bed one at a time, and I just can't wait!!!!!!

I'm currently waging war on dust mites. One of the recommendations is to leave your bed stripped back and give it a good airing every day.

yes but it's just pulling the duvet over. we don't have extra cushions or throws on the bed.

I had some German guests once and they always made their beds but only half ( the bottom) and left the top half exposed never did get it! Would love anyone to enlighten me :)

I do make it every day, but first I give it an airing by pulling back the duvet. It only takes a minute after my breakfast and shower!

We sweat a pint of liquid into our beds every night, so every morning I pull the sheets right back, and open the windows to dry it out. I also vacuum the dry skin particles out of the mattress when I can. The neatest looking beds are the scummiest!

I make my bed but not in the traditional sense. I pull back the duvet and leave it exposed to the air for the day and also plump and turn my pillows, then once home in the evening a make it properly so it's nice and inviting for later.
I have a dust allergy and this is supposed to aid in reducing dust and skin mites in the mattress. They like a warm moist environment so by keeping the bed uncovered for the day it dries out and cools down.

I air the bed while having showers and breakfast, and then it gets made. Every day without fail. Keeps the room neat and something to relax into last thing at night.

never really been one for making the bed but I do now air it for an hour at least as not doing so rusted the metal vents on my new Hypnos bed!

Didn't used to ..... until our house was burgled! They took the blanket off our unmade bed to wrap the tv up in. I was so embarrassed at the thought of the burglars, and later the police, looking at my unmade bed that I have made it every morning since! :-)

I would never leave home if my bed is not made. Sometimes when I'm running a bit late in the mornings I would drop my daughter off at school but go straight back home to make my bed and start the dishwasher, and then only leave for work. Nothing worse than walking into an untidy home after work.

Like many others I always air the bed first, at least as long as it takes to drink the two cups of coffee I need before I can even speak let alone function :D I have to make the bed myself as no one else seems to be able to get the arrangement of pillows, cushions and throw right - OCD me? Never!

I try to make it every morning but I have to throw the dog off first and he doesn't always co-operate. He comes upstairs when my husband leaves for work.

I open the bedroom window and air my bed for an hour each morning before making it. I can't bear to see an unmade bed it makes the room look uncared for and unpleasant to come back to.

Yes, like Walksy I pull everything back ,air it whilst I bath and have breakfast then pull it all into shape an hour later . It makes things nice and easy .
