Well, I think, in a fall, the slick painted concrete steps leading to a brick/concrete wall and, if you survive the turn in staircase, stone flooring at the bottom must also be on the list of potential hazards :) To be honest, I have to go back and check the slipperiness of the stairs. No idea how I could get a runner around the bend and anchored into concrete but something may be required. For whomever asked, the parquet is the entire upstairs flooring. The stone is all downstairs (and not too attractive so rug shopping is high on my list). I have to give it to the Swiss. There is nary a wobble in the current railing - it's just not up to any sort of child protection code. A 2 inch thick catalog of railing options landed on the doorstep yesterday - must peruse and ponder for a bit! Thankfully we have no children or pets to lose over the side so I have some time to get it right! So long as chicken wire NEVER enters the conversation!!!!! hahahahhaha

Just wanted to show you these storage cubes they are amazing storage and really help me keep all those little pieces together also it makes it so much easier to keep the room tidy. They are from ikea and are really inexpensive but if your having a play room you defiantly need these. Also I tried to find a pic with a bright rug in I think if you get a big rug some storage and a window dressing you are pretty much done. As for art work I watched a video on YouTube that I thought you might like it was children's drawings framed and another which had a long piece of string with clothes pegs on that you added children's drawings too I thought it was a really personal touch and let's be honest cheaper than any art work your going to buy

I was tempted to answer both other and gender neutral; here's why. A neutral base is always good to accessorise with colour in all sorts of shades and I don't know anyone who really believes that we need to force children down the path of blue is for boys and pink is for girls. Just my observation. Colour plays an important part in a child's visual and emotional development though; hence, the use of primary colours is always promoted so kids can recognise colour early on. I personally would steer clear of black and white for a nursery but can see why that could appeal to some from a design aesthetic. As a compromise, light grey tones with creams and splashes of colour (on mobiles, pictures, lamp shade, bookshelf, cushions, cot bedding) I would definitely entertain. Hope this helps.
