possible bookcase for darkish mid century living room
Comments (3)Thanks so much for these responses! Yes string shelving would be a great idea and would add lightness to the room while keeping the style. Unfortunately the external wall is also insulated with plasterboard because of damp problems so it would be quite complicated and risky to hang anything on it. I have now bought a Brouer Mobelfabrik rosewood bookcase for the one side . After it is in place, I will have to see whether an additional piece would work for the other side But all these are good ideas as I have another room with an internal wall where primary colours and string shelving would look great Thanks for your advice!...See MoreAdapting Billy bookcase?
Comments (8)You could do as above and trim around an 80 cm unit and give a real built in feel or as the shelves are adjustable you could fit two 40 cm units buy some extra shelving packs and just drill the holes out on both internal sides of both units and cut down the shelving to fit the centre column, I would still put some smaller trims round this option to just to make it bespoke!...See Morebookcase door
Comments (4)Something like this? The only problem I can forsee is that the Garage will not be insulated like the house and therefore, you would be better off with an 'outside' door that is properly insulated. Perhaps you can find a carpenter capable of building the bookcase with an insulated panel behind it?...See MoreBookcase wall, what to do with cornicing?
Comments (10)I too would find a different bookcase. In fact find a decent joiner and have one made. We had ours built out of mdf and then added trims because we don't have cornicing. It cost me £160 in mdf and £185 for the joiners labour for a day. I then spray painted it white... You can literally have it as you want it and if you're after glass doors, any decent joiner could add them into the design....See MoreAmanda Robinson
