leave the TV wall mounted but bring it down a little and then you won't be ending up with neck ache and maybe put a shiny white cabinet to display some nice pieces. that's what I've done and it looks great.

Ok, how deep are the alcoves? are You able to do basic diy? I cut my Billy 10cm to fit into the space. It was worth it. I really like your fireplace surround. It would be really nice to get or install something to compliment it. go for billy/ besta combination. besta 120cm (60+60 combination) cabinet with legs and put a top 132cm to go for wall to wall. Complete with billy/besta wall cabinet above. If someone is able to do some diy you can add some side panels to look built in. Look on the YouTube, there are videos people do it. The on the other side take billy tall cabinets (80cm+80cm) as built in bookcases. go for white cabinets and combination of glass and solid doors. You would be also able to add some cabinet lights . That seems quite high for a tv unit? Have you considered a sideboard and put a hole in the back for cables? Thanks to bad renovation timing coinciding with the start of Covid lockdowns, we used DIY removable wallpaper above our upstand as a temporary “make do” measure because all work and shopping had to stop. Three years later (!) we are finally getting around to removing a chimney breast to completely finalise the kitchen, including replastering, and I am fairly certain I will be using the same wallpaper again. The only difference is it will be professionally hung! We have received so many compliments and it’s been shockingly robust, even behind the hob. We used a greyish shiplap patterned wallpaper above a Carrera marble countertop and upstand, with white upper and pale grey lower cabinets.
