hi all, update is I have finally found a photo of someones stairs done in Brintons timorous beastie yellow Ruskin butterfly and its made me decide we are definitely 100% going for this as I love it (see attached pics) on stairs and landing... Floor in hall will be oak herringbone parquet, just wall colour to decide and we have bought new tall skirting so colour to paint this also? i have attcahed apic of the hall currently so you can see our front door with stain glass.. As Ive mentioned before the banister and spindles will be replaces with square spindles with an oak top banister and oak end cap - similar to this houzz pic ... So just to deicide on wall colour and new skirting colour... I really like f&b light blue in a hall with oak parquet but I don't feel this will go with the carpet... Kitchen and dining room will be one of the sage shades and lounge Wimborne white and downpipe...

I have to say my whole garden is finally looking good at the moment! We had to have a trench dug across it last year for the new drains for the kitchen, plus we've had trees taken down, new patios laid, beds made and a whole bed of ground elder laid fallow and covered for over a year. Consequently, since Easter, we have been "doing" the garden - well I say we, it's actually the OH doing all the grunt work, digging, planting and re-planting (oops), with me in a purely managerial capacity and doing a bit of dead heading. This is what it was like in 2017 And last year

Many thanks for your help and thoughts. Much appreciated!! I have just placed the mirror centre over the fireplace and am very pleased with it. It's a big mirror and won't fit portrait style, unfortunately. Thank you once again, Caroline, Jules and Daisy. So good of you to take the time to reply to me. Wishing ye a very Happy Christmas and here's to a healthier and brighter 2021. X

Try these people. Loads of herringbone and some quite bold ones too. They do pieces for the landing and turns. I had a runner from them. Prices are reasonable but you have to do the measuring yourself and send them a drawing if you want turns etc. Mine was quite a dark narrow staircase. Don’t think it matters really and a light carpet doesn’t brighten it up. I think it’s the walls and contrast that matters. https://www.stairrunnersdirect.com/Stair-Runners/Patterned
