Need help identifying Coving Profile

I need help to identify what style this coving is or a link to a website with competitive pricing. We were hoping to save the ceiling and cornicing but it came crashing down!! I'm getting slightly bamboozled at looking through sites when I know someone out there would be able to tell by just looking at it! Luckily we managed to salvage some of the ceiling rose before the ceiling came crashing down!! Any help would be so appreciated.

I had the same issue in a previous house. You can get molds made so that you can faithfully reproduce what you have. As long as you don't have a listing that compels you to retain the original I would rip it all down and replace it which will save massively in labour. I have done this in my own house- I think the trick is to choose something that is the same proportions as what was there so it suits the proportions of the room.
I bought online but Trade decoration centers also sell coving by special order. Including fitting you should budget £400 for an average room.

These are lovely and I can see why you wanted to keep them. Unfortunately the chances of you finding an exact match 'off the shelf' are pretty slim. They were almost certainly produced using wet plaster in situ by a local craftsman using moulds and templates unique to them. So realistically your options are to either remove the remaining cornicing and choose something similar to replace (easy and relatively affordable). Or to find a company who will come out and create a custom template from one of the existing sections. They will then either create new sections and repair or remove completely and start from scratch. Fortunately you have enough of both the rose and cornice to do this if you want absolute accuracy.

If you decide to replace with similar styles I would look for places that can provide 'wet' plaster as this is easier to work when installing.

The rose looks quite unique though and probably would have been made out of several different components. It does have an 'adams' styling to it which may help you search for similar ones though.

I have built-in closets under the eaves of an American Bungalow style house in three bedrooms. They measure about 6'x 4', and my son even has a bed in one that is slightly larger, but the ceiling height is between about 2 1/2 and just barely 5 feet, so they aren't as efficient as they can be. In the master, I moved the rod to the back wall (it used to be only the depth of a hanger from the door) and down to a height to hang shirts and jackets, a little over 3' up, and this freed up the two existing short rods on the sides that are set about 4 plus feet up from the floor--long enough for most dresses, skirts and suits and such. This sort of U shaped arrangement works pretty well and the corners are for boxed out of season clothes and a short revolving (sort of a wire Lazy Susan) shoe rack.

I think you're not far off the look you want but, you're right, there are a few tweaks to tie it together. Mainly paint, so only a weekend, maybe two, depending on how handy you are with a brush! I would paint the black blue, and lose the gold frame moulding in the centre of the ceiling (it brings the ceiling down, visually). Love the blue chandelier, keep it! Is that a radiator to the right of the door? If yes, I'd paint it gold to match the skirting (it would also look more Victorian). If you have the budget, you could get it replaced with a vintage style cast iron radiator? They are quite expensive though, so maybe something to save up for down the line? I'd also paint the entry door blue, with a gold frame, to tie everything in together - I think the stark white block in the wall jars with the rest of the room. As per other contributors to this thread, I agree that you need a rug, ideally a dark coloured Kilim or Turkish style rug, going by your inspiration photos. IKEA do some that are very affordable, but you could splash out on a handmade one. If you can find a battered and worn secondhand one, I think would look awesome, it would give you that lived in Victorian look? Finally, the chairs and table are cool, and the colours work for me, but the table is way to small for the space. Perversely, I think it actually makes the room look smaller? I would switch to a six seater, and turn it 90 degrees to how you have it at the moment (pointing toward the fireplace). It does look awesome, and do please keep us posted!

I agree with headers- there is no half measure- the hideous fireplace has to be replaced with something grand enough for the room. You may also have to reinstate some skirting. As far as decorating I love the earlier suggestion of Peignoir, I think you should put down a silver carpet or a wood with a silver quality (not yellow), woodwork should be a soft white (not brilliant white) and if the ceiling is painted a pale grey white coving will stand out more. Since the windows are missing any architrave, curtains and pelmets are in my opinion a better option than blinds or shutters as curtains will hide the edges. When you choose a light fitting remember to choose one that is a wide as the ceiling rose- if there is no rose then get one the width of the door.

Likely going to come down to your personal preference. We brought a 70’s mid terrace, standard height rooms (IMO) and they had put up picture rails. Personally I wouldn’t have done but for the way we have recently decorated it, it actually adds height to the room, which I think is down to a trick of the eye, so they have grown on me. Just keep in mind if you put them up you may struggle to get them off if you change your mind down the line without having the risk of needing to replaster.

One other thing you can try is to look up local plaster restorer's as its possible they may have the same templates and moulds from repairing other houses nearby as chances are they were done in the same style.

Personally I would probably split the difference - take the easy road on the coving and find a similar profile in the same proportions to the original thats available online to replace. Then get do the pricier option of having a mould made for the ceiling rose to get exact reproductions.

Think I may take the easy road and get a near as damn it copy! I would love to get a mould made but our budget will be eaked out elsewhere to get the cast iron rads we want to replace the nasty standard white ones!!

I don't think there's any problem with doing replacements. They'll still look great :).

I bought Acova column radiators from screw fix, they look amazing and were relatively inexpensive too. It's amazing how much heat they throw out. We also got one of the tall skinny ones for the kitchen since there was very little space. Now when I come in from outside I love to 'hug' it and warm up lol.
